Church Wide FellowshipLittle did we realise at our well-attendedmeeting on March 10 th , listening to FreddieStrong’s Lent reflections, that this would beour last one for the foreseeable future. Weknew that the Coronavirus was started totake a grip, but back then we had no idea weand the rest of the world would be in variousstates of lockdown within less than twoweeks. For the first time ever churches andother places of worship closed their doors,and Easter was celebrated in a “virtual”way. But how fortunate we are to live insuch a beautiful part of the country, with astrong network of community support andneighbourly concern. At present we don’tknow how long this situation will last, butwe can be optimistic and hope that perhapswe will be able to meet again for our annualchurch service on the second Tuesday inOctober. Until then, take care and stay safe.Oh, and just a little personal postscript: itwas ten years ago that I first joined theCWF, recruited by the redoubtable MollieBertin who lived a few doors away. Mollieand her sparring partner Evelyn Taylor ranthe meetings then, and the first one Iattended was on February 9 th 2010: a talk onthe sea and sailing given by Lys and RobPage… I haven’t missed many since andhave met some wonderful people throughthe Group.Christine HollidayI would like to thankall those who sentcards, messages ofsympathy anddonations on behalf of Martin. Ido hope residents continue to support thesebusinesses after restrictions are lifted. Theepidemic just shows how much we needthem. The market on a Wednesday has alsohelped keep us going with fresh fish,vegetables, bread and cakes, all available inthe open air and well managed by Mirandaensuring social distancing guidelines areobserved.Also what a wonderful job our CommunityWatch team, together with a number ofvolunteers, are doing in looking out for themost vulnerable folk in our village.
