Preventing the spread of
COR NAVIRUS
Houston Methodist is committed to keeping Houstonians safe during the coronavirus outbreak. While most people
may only experience mild symptoms, it’s important to keep those who are more vulnerable safe. By following these tips,
along with guidance from the CDC and public health officials, you can help slow the spread of COVID-19.
WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN.
Proper hand hygiene can prevent the
spread of viruses. Use an antibacterial soap,
wash for 20 seconds and dry your hands
thoroughly. If you don’t have soap, use hand
sanitizer. Also, avoid touching your face,
particularly your eyes, nose and mouth.
PRACTICE COUGH ETIQUETTE.
Cover your coughs and sneezes. Use
a tissue when you cough or sneeze,
dispose of it properly and then wash or
sanitize your hands. Do not reuse your
tissues.
AVOID CLOSE CONTACT
AND CROWDS.
Practice social distancing: Keep about six
feet away from others as often as possible.
If you must venture out, try to go during
non-peak hours.
DISINFECT DAILY.
Keeping your home clean and disinfected
will prevent the spread of coronavirus,
and any other lurking germs. Remember
surfaces like faucets, door knobs,
refrigerator door handles and toilets.
SKIP HANDSHAKES AND HUGS.
COVID-19 spreads primarily through
person-to-person contact, via respiratory
droplets formed when a sick person
coughs or sneezes. Instead, consider
waving or simply smiling and saying “hello.”
SELF-QUARANTINE.
When it comes to staying home, it’s
better to be safe and stay put if you’ve
traveled or come into contact with
someone who has COVID-19 — even
if you don’t have symptoms. If you start
to feel ill, use telemedicine or call ahead
before seeing your doctor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE CORONAVIRUS: If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever, cough or
difficulty breathing, you can speak to one of our Virtual Urgent Care providers in the MyMethodist app to help determine if testing is needed and advise

YARD OF THE MONTH
Yard of the Month began in April. Thanks to a resident who has been
a great help over the years. She would like to have at least one other
person to help with this project. If you would like to help, please contact
Kay Serventi at Preferred Management Services, 281-897-8808. How can
you get the Yard of the month award? Here are seven simple suggestions:
\1. Have a lush green lawn.
2. Keep trees full and pruned properly.
3. Keep hedges full and pruned properly.
4. Keep sidewalk and driveway clear of debris.
5. Keep driveway clear of stains.
6. Be sure no weeds are present.
7. Keep your yard esthetically pleasing to the eye.
POOL SEASON
Dates and times are subject to change.
If the quarantine has been lifted, the Concord Bridge pool will be open
Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 23 rd through Monday, May 25 th . It
will open on a daily basis, Friday, May 31 st . Pool tags will be mailed to you.
Please note you will not receive your pool tags if you annual fees have
not been paid or a current payment plan is in force. Emails will be sent
to those that have registered through Preferred Management Services.

Garage sales held any other time are subject to fines. Estate sales must be
approved and established rules must be followed.
ANNUAL HOMEOWNERS FEES
Your annual fees of $370 were due on January 1, 2020 and were delinquent
on February 1, 2020. Unless you made arrangements for a payment plan with
Preferred Management late fees will begin to accumulate. DO NOT ignore
notifications from Preferred Management. Late fees, penalties and interest on
amounts add up quickly. If you ignore them, legal fees will also be added. Pool/
recreation access will not be given to homeowners with delinquent HOA fees.
CONCORD BRIDGE PETS
Have you lost a pet or found a dog or cat? You can contact the Concord
Bridge Pet Hotline at 281-468-9414 and on the Facebook account, www.
facebook.com/#!/Concordbridgehotline. You can use this source to
report lost and found animals. This has been a great help in returning
lost and found animals to their owners. Even if you don’t have access to
Facebook, you can call 281-468-9414. It is far more efficient than posting
illegal signs all over the neighborhood. Another great source for finding
a lost pet or reporting a rescued one is nextdoor.com/concordbridge.
Harris County requires that all pets be on a leash or confined within your
yard. Unleashed dogs are a nuisance to your neighbors and other pets.
Please pick up all dog waste and dispose of it properly. Remember, our
children play in the park areas and their yards. It’s very inconsiderate of
you to allow your dog to defecate if others yards and the parks. When
walking your dogs, please be prepared to remove any waste they may
leave behind.

Tax Tip for May
Due to the Covid-19 situation, July 15 is the new April 15 for
many purposes. It is not necessary to file for an extension to
get this additional time to file, and even to pay if you owe
additional tax. And, if you are normally required to make
quarterly estimated tax payments on April 15 or June 15, they
are now due on July 15.
I am still at my office each day, but limiting in-person visits,
relying more on email, Sharefile, and Priority Mail. Except for it
being really quiet around here, it’s business as usual. Stay well!

Do you know what to do with leftover used cooking oil and grease?
Never wash cooking fats, oil or grease (FOG) down the drain, as they can
cause the sewer line to back up into your home. If the drain clogs and
causes a sewer line blockage it may cause the back up to flow onto the
street and into the storm drains which flow to our bayous and eventually
Galveston Bay. This material is harmful to the waterways and the creatures
that live there.
RECYCLE IT INSTEAD!
The Harris County Household Hazardous Waste Facility provides a free
residential FOG drop-off site for easy disposal. FOG items can be recycled
into bio-diesel fuels, a feed additive for animals and other processes that
save natural resources. Please do NOT mix FOG with any other items,
such as automotive waste (no auto oils or lubricants) because if these are
mixed they cannot be recycled. Also, please bring your FOG in a container
that we can keep. This service is for residents of Harris County only.
HARRIS COUNTY ALARM PERMIT
A permit is required for all alarms in Harris County. Obtaining the required
permit will avoid the issuance of a citation and excessive false alarm
fees. Go to the website at www.hcso.hctx.net and click on forms. The
application should be completed and mailed with the appropriate fees
to the address shown on the application. A new permit will cost $35 and
annual renewals are $10. Should you have any questions, please contact
the Alarm Detail office at 713-755-4600 during normal business hours.
STREETLIGHT OUTAGE
CenterPoint Energy depends on the assistance of customers to help
identify streetlights in need of repair. If you notice a streetlight outage or
a streetlight on during daylight hours, visit CenterPoint Energy’s website
https://slo.centerpointenergy.com to report the issue. You may also call
713-207-2222 to report an outage. When reporting a streetlight in need
of repair, it is important to provide the following: • Light number • Location
description • Streetlight address, city, state and zip • Problem description.

10 TIPS FOR SAFE
COMPUTING
Today, we are more
dependent on computers
and the information that they
store than ever before. From
spyware, viruses and Trojans
to identity theft and computer
hardware malfunctions -
any disruption can have a
huge impact on our lives. No
matter how savvy the user,
safe computing practices are
a combination of physical
protections using computer
software and security settings
and the secure actions of the
user. You need both to make
a difference. Below are 10 tips that will help you protect your computer
and ultimately the information stored on it.
1. Keep your computer updated - In the evolving world of software viruses,
it is essential that computer owners use anti-virus software and keep it upto-date.
Most anti-virus software gives the user the ability to do automatic
updates. Whether individuals choose to update their operating system
software automatically or manually, we recommend making it a continuous
process. It is also important to keep other software on your computer
updated. Software updates often include essential bug fixes and security
features that address existing vulnerabilities. Finally, enable the personal
firewall on your computer. This will help to keep unauthorized people from
snooping around your computer when it’s connected to the Internet.
2. Create strong, secure passwords - There is power in strong
passwords. We recommend passwords that contain at least 8 characters
with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. Strong passwords
are less likely to be hacked than very generic passwords. Use creative
pass-phases to avoid having to write down a password. Do not share
your passwords with anyone.
3. Download files legally - Along with the possibility of significant legal
penalties, downloading music and movies from peer-to-peer networks
can be harmful to your machine. These downloaded files are sometimes
riddled with viruses and spyware.
4. Keep personal information safe - Reduce your risk of identity theft.
Never share your personal information via email, no matter how official
the email looks. Official business that requires personal information
should not happen via unsecured email.
5. Scan email attachments and validate links - In an effort to keep
viruses off your machine, scan all attachments that are sent to you. Viruses
can lurk in emails from friends and family. While you may be fooled about
an email that contains a photo you would like to see from a friend, antivirus
software will know the difference. If you receive a link in an email
from a trusted source, hover over the link using your mouse and look in
the bottom bar of your web browser to reveal the true URL and validate
that the link is legitimate. This will ensure that you know where you are
going on the Internet and whether or not you want to go there.
6. Lock your computer - When leaving your computer unattended,
physically lock it to prevent theft of the machine. We also suggest that
users lock the screen with a password to safeguard data.
7. Log off any public areas - Remember when using a public computer
or network, it is just that…public. Be sure that you completely log off the
site or machine when you are finished using it. Users should be especially
mindful to uncheck boxes that will remember users’ login information
when logging into online services, such as email and bank accounts.
8. Back up important data - We have seen final papers vanish - hard drives
crash and files become corrupt. If you have important information that you
cannot afford to lose, back it up. We recommend that you store this information
securely and even consider storing extra copies at another location.
9. Limit information on social media sites - People will post almost anything
on social media site. For many people, birth dates, anniversaries, addresses,
phone numbers and a lot of other personal information can be found on social
media sites. Protect yourself from identity theft and other scams by limiting
what information you disclose online and who can see that information.
10. Avoid surfing websites that you don’t already know - Browsers are
quickly becoming one of the larger vulnerabilities in computing. Adware
and spyware are written specifically to exploit Internet Explorer and
Firefox. So try and stick with the websites you trust.
While these steps are not foolproof, they will go a long way towards
extending the life of your machine and protecting the valuable

area residents in need. Because of the Covid-19 invasion, MESA is
experiencing a significant increase in clientele while at the same time
suffering from large reductions in donations. If you are able to help,

The MESA Food Pantry is open on the 2 nd and 4 th Tuesday evenings of
each month from 5-7:30 PM. The Produce Truck distributions are on the
3 rd Saturday morning of each month, with distribution from 8:30-11:00

POSTPONED TO NOVEMBER
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cy-Fair Educational Foundation
(CFEF) trustees graded 1200+ scholarship applications and met via Zoom
to award more than $635,000 in scholarships. For Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
graduating seniors planning to attend Lone Star College full-time in the
fall, our application is open now through May 11, 2020. This summer, the
Foundation will award $72,000 from the Edwin C. Schroeder Endowment
Fund. The Foundation looks forward to recognizing our 2020 scholarship
recipients this August.
With the Stay Home - Work Safe Mandate through the end of April, the
Foundation has decided to postpone the B. F. Adam Golf Classic until
the COVID-19 risk is minimal within our community for the safety of our
288 golfers and over 100 volunteers, trustees and staff, who help make

this event a tremendous success, as well as the staff at BlackHorse Golf

VBS
ST. AIDAN’S EPISCOPAL VBS
Take a ride with us for an exciting week of VBS, July 13 th -17 th ! Early
registration costs $20. Late registration is June 1 st , costs $30. Our theme
this year is Rocky Railway; Jesus’ Power Pulls us Through. In addition, we’ll
be having Armored Sports come in again this year for after VBS fun!
From 12-4 PM, Armored Sports will run a Bible based sports camp. The
participants will play fun games like dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag,
and games revolving around basketball, soccer and more! The cost in
addition to VBS is $115 if registered before June 1 st and $125 if registered
after June 1 st . Note: Registration for Armored Sports must be done
separately from VBS.
Summer Camps
CAMP CORNERSTONE WEEK LONG CAMP
Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp sponsored by Cornerstone
United Methodist Church and is for children ages 2 through the
completion of 4th grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2020. Camp
hours are 9:30 AM-1 PM. There are 3 sessions throughout the summer
and you are invited to participate in any or all! Registration open. Session
I - “Safari” is June 15-19, 2020; Session II - “Christmas in July” is July 13-17,
2020; Session III - “Summer Olympics” is August 3-7, 2020. The cost per
camp per child is $125 and is due at the time of registration. To download

Camp Cornerstone. Print the form and have it filled out before you arrive,
saving yourself time! Before each camp session begins, you will hear
from your child’s teacher so you can learn more about the camp and they
will answer questions about the week-long fun. Each day your child will
bring a backpack and a lunch as they enjoy each other and the special
things they will do during the week. We look forward to having your

Camp Hope is our three week day camp for children ages 5 years-old
through 6 th grade. It is an adult-mentored, student-led ministry. Each day
children will hear a new bible story, learn what it means to their life by
eating a snack, playing a game and experiencing the story through the
arts, STEM and worship. Camp Hope is a day camp that is passionate
about growing leaders. This is one of the reasons that Camp Hope is one
of the BEST ways to develop youth leaders. It’s a vital part of what Camp
Hope is all about! Parents are invited to register their children online at

SUMMER CAMPS
The iWRITE Organization will host Creative Writing & Illustration Summer
Camps around the Houston area, allowing young writers to bring their
stories to life! iWRITE was founded ten years ago by children’s author,
Melissa Williams Murphy, in order to give students the opportunity to
build their writing skills and boost their creative confidence through all
kinds of writing programs and publishing opportunities. This summer
young writers can learn straight from the pros!
The iWRITE summer camps and workshops will be held in June and July
in the Cypress, Spring Branch and Ft. Bend areas with opportunities for
kids ages 8 to 16 years old. Students will learn character development
skills that can be used in all types of writing, how authors brainstorm and
turn ideas into a story, how illustrators bring characters to life through
art, fun editing techniques and even how to get your work published.

PRACTICE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF
MOSQUITO CONTROL
1. Empty, remove, cover or turn upside down any receptacle that would
hold water - particularly old bottles and tin cans.
2. Change water and scrub vases holding flowers or cuttings twice each
week - or grow cutting in sand.
3. Discard old tires or store them indoors.
4. Screen rain barrels and openings to water tanks or cisterns. Seal
cisterns not in actual use.
5. Repair leaky plumbing and outside faucets. They may cause standing
water.
6. Connect open waste-water drains to a sewage system or construct
separate sump or leach.
7. Clean clogged roof gutters and drain flat roofs.
8. Fill holes in trees with sand or mortar or drain or spray then, as required.
9. Stock ornamental ponds with mosquito-eating fish.
10. Fix or replace screens for doors and windows.
Mosquitoes develop only in water…and water standing just a few days
can produce a crop of mosquitoes! STOP MOSQUITO DEVELOPMENT.
