Dear Shareholders,
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
As you may know, the members of the Company’s Board of Directors will be elected for a one-year
term of office at the General Shareholders’ Meeting of Lojas Renner S.A. (“Company”) to take place
on March 31 2008, following the first convening notice.
Pursuant to Paragraph 7 of Article 16 of the Bylaws, it is incumbent on the Company’s Board of
Directors to appoint a slate of candidates for election, the actual members of the Board of Directors
being automatically considered for inclusion on this slate.
The Board of Directors has further approved the indication of Ms Deborah Patricia Wright, who
together with Messrs. Francisco Roberto André Gros, Egon Handel, José Galló, Miguel Gellert
Krigsner, Pedro Pezzi Eberle and Claudio Thomaz Lobo Sonder will make up the slate for election
to the Board. The résumés of all the candidates can be found attached to this letter.

FRANCISCO ROBERTO ANDRÉ GROS (65): Member of Lojas Renner’s Board of Directors since May 25
2005 and was elected Chairman on June 8 2005. Mr. Gros is Chief Executive Officer of OGX Petróleo e Gás,
Chairman of the Board of Wilson Sons and member of the boards of Fosfertil, Globex Utilidades S.A., EDP –
Energias do Brasil and the Nature Conservancy (Brasil). Mr. Gros is also member of the advisory boards of
Scania Latin America Ltda and of Banco Financia S.A.. Mr. Gros was a director of the CVM (Brazilian
Securities and Exchange Commission), Unibanco, BNDES and BNDESPAR, and Morgan Stanley, and
Chairman of Aracruz Celulose and Banco Central. Mr. Gros was President of BNDES from March 2000 to
December 2001. During this period, he was a member of the Energy Crisis Management Panel and
responsible for the Electric Sector Revitalization Committee. He was President of Petrobras, from January to
December 2002, and Fosfertil from 2003 to march 2007. Mr. Gros obtained a degree in economics from
Princeton University, USA in 1964.
EGON HANDEL (68) Member of the Lojas Renner's Board of Directors since 1991 and has been Vice-
Chairman since April 30 1999. He is founder and partner of Handel, Bittencourt & Cia. – Auditores
Independentes since 1979. Mr. Handel has been a member of the Fiscal Council of Marcopolo S.A. since
2001, of Gerdau S.A. since April 2005 and member of the Board of Trafo Equipamentos Elétricos S.A. since
April 2007. Mr. Handel has a degree in accounting from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul
(UFRGS) and an MBA, with specialization in accounting, from Michigan State University. He has experience
as an executive director and participation on company fiscal councils and boards as well as academic
experience, particularly as a lecturer and Head of the Accounting Sciences and Actuarial Department of
UFRGS.
JOSÉ GALLÓ (56) He was elected Superintendent of Lojas Renner S.A. on September 30 1991 and has
been Chief Executive Officer of the Company since March 15 1999. Mr. Galló has been a member of the
Company's Board of Directors since 1998. He has more than 30 years experience in the retail business at
companies such as J. Alves Veríssimo S.A. (Eldorado), Imcosul S.A. and Moda Casa. Mr. Galló sits on the
Board of SLC Agricola S.A., the Advisory Board of ABN Amro (Banco Real), the board of the Planning Council
of the Federação das Câmaras de Dirigentes Lojistas do Rio Grande do Sul, member of Deliberative Council
of the Federação das Associações Comerciais e de Serviços do Rio Grande do Sul – FEDERASUL and Vice-
President of Câmara de Dirigentes Lojistas de Porto Alegre. Mr. Galló obtained a degree in business
administration from the Escola de Administração de Empresas – Getúlio Vargas Foundation of São Paulo in
1974, having concluded several courses, internships and specialization programs in marketing in Brazil and
overseas.
MIGUEL GELLERT KRIGSNER (58) - Member of Lojas Renner’s Board of Directors since March 21 2006. In
1977, Mr. Krigsner founded the company, O Boticário, at the time a small compounding pharmacy in
downtown Curitiba, state of Paraná. Today, the company has the largest franchise network in the cosmetics
sector in the world. Mr. Krigsner was the company’s Chairman until February 2008, when he became
Chairman of the holding company that controls O Boticário. He obtained a degree in biochemistry from
Universidade Federal do Paraná.
PEDRO PEZZI EBERLE (59). Sits on the Board of Directors of Lojas Renner to which he was elected on April
2 2007. Mr. Eberle acted as Economic Advisor to Fiat do Brasil S.A. from 1977 to 1982, as well as Banco Boa
Vista S.A. from 1982 to 1987 and was Director of Gardi S.A., investment company of Banco Garantia until
1989. Mr. Eberle was also a member of the management of Docas S.A. and Docas DTVM between 1989 and
1992 and was the founding-partner of Dynamo Administração de Recursos. He obtained a degree in electrotechnological
engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in 1971. He also has a
postgraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro
(obtained in 1973) and Master’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia, USA in 1976.
CLAUDIO THOMAZ LOBO SONDER (65). A Member of the Board of Directors of Lojas Renner, elected on
April 2 2007. Mr. Sonder is the Partner-Director of Panorama Consult. His career has been dedicated to the
chemical-pharmaceutical sector, where he has held management positions at Hoechst and Celanese groups.
Mr. Sonder is member of the boards of Cia. Suzano de Papel e Celulose S.A., RBS - Zero Hora, Cyrela Brazil
Realty S.A. and DSM Chemicals in the Netherlands. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering and
Economics from the Universidade Mackenzie in São Paulo and has concluded extension courses at the
University of Munich, Germany and Harvard Business School, Boston.
DEBORAH PATRICIA WRIGHT (50): Ms. Wright has 20 years experience in the consumer products sector and
solid experience in marketing, sales and strategic planning. She has held posts at Parmalat S.A., ICI Paints SP,
Kraft Foods of the Group Philip Morris SP, Unilever SP and General Foods SP. Ms. Wright was CEO of the Pão de
Açúcar Group’s Internet Division and from 2002 to 2007, held the Commercial Vice-Presidency of the Abril Group
for Corporate Sales and Marketing. She sat on the Trustee Board of the Graduate School of São Paulo from 1999
to 2002 and since the beginning of 2008, she has been a Director of the Samaritano Hospital of São Paulo. She has
a degree in Business Administration from EAESP-FGV Escola de Administração de Empresas - São Paulo.
