WORDS OF WISDOM

How much better to get wisdom than gold,

to get insight rather than silver!

Provers 16:18

WORDS OF WISDOM

Greetings from the Emerald Isle!

It is an honor for me to greet the Holy Infant Graduating Class of

2020. I read the list of names and fondly remember many of your

siblings from their sixth grade year!

Every story has an end but in life every end is a new

beginning. Congratulations and sincere good wishes as you

embark on "A New Beginning."

This wish would not be complete without an Irish Blessing? "May

the dreams you hold dearest be those that come true, And the

kindness you spread keep returning to you!"

Stay close to Church and family.

Every success, much love, and may God bless and protect you.

Sister Laurentia ☘

WORDS OF WISDOM

I love these words from St. Paul to the Ephesians: “Glory to God whose power

now at work in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory be

to him in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.

Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

Graduates, congratulations to you! I can only hope you realize how very proud

we are of you! When you were a little baby boy or little baby girl, your parents

brought you to church to be baptized. They made a very solemn promise that

day, a promise to the Lord and to you, that they would do their best, with

God’s grace, to make sure that you were raised to be a mature, responsible

Christian adult. I’m delighted that Holy Infant School was entrusted with the

privilege of being a part of your formation!

The best advice I could offer you is to continue to foster that all-important

friendship with Jesus, our best friend. Spend a little time each day in

conversation with him. We know that friendship shrivels up without constant

communication. Talk to your friend, Jesus. Listen to him daily in prayer. Never

miss the chance to be with our best friend as often as possible, especially

Sunday Mass. And always, always embrace the radical teaching of Jesus to

“love one another.”

Fr. Edward Stanger

Pastor

WORDS OF WISDOM

To the Class of 2020:

Congratulations on completing your elementary education here at Holy Infant

School.

We mark our time here on earth with many milestones and way points; this is

but one of them and many more lie before you in the years ahead. This has

been a year to remember for many reasons, not the least of which is the

COVID-19 pandemic which turned your 8th grade year upside down and

inside out.

Your teachers, both past and present have helped you to increase the skills

and talents with which God has blessed you. Your education is only a

foundation upon which you will continue to build your lives with the

continued support of your parents and parish. I pray that you realize what

great gifts God has given you in your family, your faith, and your education.

May almighty God continue to walk by your side for He is never far away from

those who seek Him. May God remain with you on your pilgrimage of life and

may you listen to His Holy Spirit and the guidance He brings. May you make

wise and informed decisions in your life and may we all share in the grace and

joy our God promises to those who love Him. Peace be with you and may

God’s blessings be yours during the journey of your life.

In Christ the Lord,

Msgr. Mike Dieckmann

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Class of 2020,

Congratulations on concluding your grade school careers.

I greatly enjoyed my time in the classroom with you: guilds,

Sacraments, chanting...and whatever topic about which you

happened to get me on a tangent!

More than anything, I hope that you will take with you that the

best, happiest life is a life fully lived with the Catholic Faith.

Our Faith gives us the reason for our lives, the answers to the

most important questions, and a relationship with the God

Who created, redeemed, and saved us.

I pray that you continue to grow in your knowledge of our

Faith, deepen your practice of the Faith, and make your

relationship with God the primary relationship of your life.

Such is the only path to long-term, eternal success.

Be assured of my continued prayers for you every day!

In Christ,

Fr Burkemper

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear 8 th grade,

I enjoyed our time together this year. I felt like we already

knew each other at the beginning of the school year. This is

probably due to the fact that my family practically lives here

Good luck, 8 th grade! You will be in my

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dearest Eighth Grade,

You have probably heard that high school is hard. The good

news is that it probably will not be as hard as you imagined. If

you have done a pretty good job of being successful in eighth

grade, then you will do fine in 9 th grade.

Only you really know what is best for you and success along

with greatness is up to you. Don’t take your parents for granted,

they have been where you are so ask for help.

Be virtuous and ask yourself, “Is this something I can do

without lowering who I am?” How do you want to be

remembered? If you treat others well, they will remember that.

If you treat them poorly, I promise you that they will most

definitely remember that.

Attitude is everything. You can make the best of any situation

or choose to bring yourself and everyone around you down.

Find reasons to be thankful, even in the tough moments. Just

whisper the name of JESUS and there will be miracles.

May God always hold you in the palm of His hand,

Mrs. Lenger

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Graduating Class of 2020!

Congratulations!!!

You have accomplished so much here at Holy Infant! You are smart,

ready for the next step in your life, blessed, and loved by all who

taught you!

Remember third grade; Pecos Bill, zoo field trip, animal research

reports, field day, and cursive!

This is my last year at Holy Infant because I am retiring.

I have fond memories of this class.

I will remember you all in my prayers and please pray for me as I

begin a new part of my life.

Many Blessings,

Love,

Mrs. Offerman

WORDS OF WISDOM

Congratulations, Class of 2020! While I am very sad to see you leave Holy Infant, I am

also incredibly excited for you as you begin this new journey in your lives. I know that

this year is not ending the way it should be, and my heart goes out to you... your lives

have been disrupted, and many of the things you were looking forward to are not able to

happen. Eighth grade year is a special time. Our school traditions, like the Passion, the

Variety Show, May Crowning, and Confirmation are not just random activities for you.

They are defining moments of your time at Holy Infant. Even though we know the

disruption of these events is a necessity, it doesn’t make it any easier to miss out on them.

However, missing these events also doesn’t take away from all that you have

accomplished in your years at Holy Infant. You should be so proud of yourselves!

As you begin the exciting new chapter of high school, a little advice from me to you...

* Be positive, principled, pro-active, and productive.

* Don’t hide from mistakes. Be honest. Not sure about something? Ask questions!

Messed up? Own up! We learn from our mistakes just as much as our successes!

Mistakes are meant to be made. It's what you do different the next time that matters.

* Remember that you matter. Your worth can’t be measured by the grades you earn, the

clothes you wear, or the parties you get invited to. Find your worth in God alone.

* Remember that other people matter, too. High school is full of chances to be mean

and hurtful. Avoid the temptation.

* Do hard things. Good things don’t come to those who just wait. Good things come to

those who show up, sweat and sacrifice. Don’t choose the path of least resistance. God

doesn’t promise us a life of ease, but those hard times are what grow us.

* Don't forget to "Listen for God's voice in everything you do and everywhere you go;

He's the one that will keep you on track" (Proverbs 3:6).

Even though your time at Holy Infant has come to a close, please know that I will always

remember your class fondly. You are such an enthusiastic bunch, full of personality! I’ll

remember seeing the eclipse together, your love of llamas, and our Office chats. I’ll laugh

when I remember Drake’s tie, shoes getting stuck in trees, ruined hole punchers, and all

the questions you would ask to try to get us off topic! I’ll always remember Irish dancing

French braids, Veronica’s Monday Mission, and Peter Pan will forever hold a special

place in my heart (even with the wrong music and even though you all made fun of my

Peter Pan poster)! Thank you for always remembering to close the door softly, return my

Flair pens, and to cute it up! ☺

I, for one, cannot wait to see where you go from here...great things are in

store for you, I am certain of it! I am so grateful I have been a small part of

your journey. "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

Love you!

Miss Forrest

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Graduates,

I am so proud of you all! I have loved watching you grow up

here at Holy Infant. You have such good hearts and have

given me a lot to smile about over the years. I will be praying

for each and every one of you to have the best experiences in

life. No matter how much you succeed, never forget your

roots. Always remember that we learn from our mistakes, and

tomorrow is a new day. Always be open to grow and learn

something new. And, always believe that a positive attitude is

contagious.

Last, there are two things in life that can never be taken away

from you. They are your faith and education. Cherish and

nurture them both. No one can ever be too kind or too

educated. May God bless each of you with good health, peace,

and happiness.

Love,

Mrs. Hoene

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Graduating 8th graders,

As you move on to high school remember the old Brownie

song, "Make new friends, but keep the old." In high school

join clubs, play a new sport, enjoy a new activity, take a

class that's not required-find out where your passions lie.

Show 'em what you've got.

Don't ever smoke. Vaping turns you into a guinea pig for

research since no one knows what the long-term effects are.

Never get into a car if the driver has been drinking. Call your

parents for a ride home-they will be glad you did.

Yellow on posters doesn't show up.

Be kind every way you can, to all the people you can, every

time you can. If I can ever help you in any way please don’t

hesitate to call me 314-808-0547.

God bless you all.

Love,

Mrs. Ford RN

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear 8th grade,

This 8th grade year has been an

unforgettable year for you in so many

ways. You are all strong and intelligent

students with so many talents. I wish

you health, love and happiness as you

embark on your new phase of high

school life! Get involved, keep good

friends, and work hard. Remember

that Holy Infant will always be a home

to you and you can always come back

and we will welcome you with open

arms!

Good Luck and

Blessings,

Mrs. Seder

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Class of 2020,

As I was growing up, my parents always told me that family comes

first in your life, after your faith. Having family around me has

helped me get through several obstacles and milestones in my

life. Our family knows us the best, during our best days and our

worst. Living through these last few months with your family has

probably made you go crazy but it is truly a gift. You will soon be

on your own and even though your family will not be with you,

they will always stand by you, no matter what!

In my years of teaching, I have seen many students graduate and

come back to visit. No matter how many times you visit or how

old you get, I will always be in your corner. Even though I’m not

your parent, I, too, have stood by you during your best days and

your worse. I truly care about each and every one of you and hope

for the best. For the first few years after graduation, you will come

back to visit and hopefully attend our annual Thanksgiving

Mass. And, even if you journey far away, you will always be a part

of Holy Infant. No one knows where life will take us, but make

that road memorable. The next years of your life will shape you

into the young adult you wish to become. Know that I am proud

of you all and will miss you! To the Class of 2020…. Always

remember that “Our best friends are the people who bring out the

best in us.” Henry Ford. I will always call you friend.

Sincerely,

Mr. Meesey

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Class of 2020,

Your last year in junior high began anticipating Confirmation, May Crowning,

and Graduation. We do have many good memories of Cotillion, Mardis Gras Parade

with your Buddies, and Irish Dancing.

And then it all changed. COVID 19. This crisis has given us all an opportunity to be our

best selves. And many of you have done just that. Virtues of patience,

empathy, understanding, and kindness became goals we had to lean on as we dealt with

our families and our friends. You had to apply skills of creativity, perseverance,

diligence, determination and hard work to your education as online learning became your

new normal.

As I write this, we do not know how your 8th grade year will end. No matter. Be resilient

and be compassionate so that at the end of the day you will see yourself as a better

person having gone through it. However, your 8th grade year resolves, armed with these

virtues and skills you will be well prepared for high school and beyond.

Always remember, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:13

God Bless You.

Love,

Mrs. Eileen Sullivan

In life, always be the best person you can possibly be. Be a disciple of Christ!

WORDS OF WISDOM

8 th Grade Memories

In science class, building the machines- “I thought this was going to be

fun!” “It doesn’t work!” “Can I start over?” KH and her supply of snacks in

her locker, JH and his perpetual pile of papers and school supplies

surrounding his desk, PB and his cheesecake business, JP and his astounding

AR goals, CD my reliable PA, who kept track of my copy folder, and was

always so helpful, to AS, AR, MR, AJ, MK, AG, KH, who surprised me by

turning our classroom into a magical Christmas wonderland, to EA for being

the first with the hammer-“Do we have to bring our binders?” and scary

handwriting, on his own evolutionary journey-not unlike a rock, to RL and

AB streaking through the hallways to be on time for class, Making

landforms- AG’s magnificent towering hoodoo, DV’s dough running off the

foam board and his encyclopedia-like knowledge of WWII, AL’s beautiful

archipelago and handwriting, VW’s wonderful home wizard experiments

with making dough, and cheery smile everyday. The most excellent

Renaissance Faire-sewing their clothes and learning the hard way about the

bottom line in business, with AW and LN as butchers and meat purveyors,

keeping everyone fed, and EA and JN industrious shoe makers-who made

very little money, and AJ and NF, our German bakers who were early

pretzel kings, and JF who told fortunes and collected a huge amount of

merchandise. AD and her Eeyore-like perspective on early morning science,

and all of you for the countless small things, that are even more valuable

and precious because of this time apart. I wish you all good things as you

move forward not only in school, but in life. Please remember, to respect

yourself and not forget your religious upbringing and roots, and know that

God has a plan for you, even if you might not recognize it for yourself right

now. I will miss you.

Be well,

Mrs. Jones

grade year at Holy Infant! It has been an unusual end of

the year and you have had to step up as never before. But,

as you are ready to move on to the next part of your life,

high school, keep your memories of all of the experiences

I hope that each of you in the Class of 2020 will use your

personal and academic strengths to achieve your goals

and dreams. Good luck to each of you and know that I wish

Christ is in your efforts, Christ in in your play, Christ is in

your evening, Christ is in your sleeping and Christ is in

your waking to a new day tomorrow."

Work hard and gather wonderful memories along the way,

have to share with the world. Holy Infant will be better

because of you but not the same without you. Your

energy, friendship and spirit will be genuinely missed

within these walls, but never forgotten.

Thank you for breaking me in as I transitioned to

grade. I love you as individuals and a class as a whole,

and hope you take Holy Infant in your heart with you,

wherever you go. Please remember to let Jesus, the

WORDS OF WISDOM

Hey, there, Holy Infant class of 2020!

Congratulations on making it! Some of you have now been in this school

longer than anyone in history since you were the FIRST group to wear

the blue shirts and be here in Junior Kindergarten. There were only a few

of you but you paved the way! So many years, So many traditions. So

many teachers and classrooms! Students who have come and gone.

What makes you so special??

You. Your faith. And your friendships.

I have had the extreme privilege to get to know you all as a parent... and

then to be with you in the Innovation Lab. Your Renaissance Fair was SO

MUCH FUN! You learned to sew and make paper and soap! I’m so

blessed to work in a room where your personalities come out...in your

discussions, in the way you work together, in your creativity and your

brilliance! Remember all of these things when you move on to new

groups and friendships and classrooms next year! You have learned so

much and grown in your faith and have the whole of Holy Infant

community behind you! You are strong in character and brave of heart.

You know how to say, “This is me. You do you, and I’ll be me. And that’s

all good.” I know you are ready to go to high school and get out of Holy

Infant, but my guess is that things you learned here will creep into your

minds and hearts...and keep you grounded. Don’t discredit that. We all

love who you have become and encourage you in all that you do!

I am sad to see you all leave this school. It won’t be the same without

you. And I’m sad we didn’t get to properly celebrate you as the year

ended! But know of our PRIDE in you, our LOVE for you, and our HOPE

for you in the years to come.

God bless you all and keep you in the palm of His hand always. See you

next Thanksgiving at mass for Corners of Creation! We’ll save seats for

you.

Love, Veronica’s mom,

Mrs. Wolf

WORDS OF WISDOM

Congratulations Holy Infant Class of 2020!

Good luck in high school. I pray that you will

continue to grow closer in your faith and I

know that you will do great things. Good Job!

Mrs. Hacay

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Eighth Grade Class of 2020,

Congratulations! You made it! While the end

didn't go quite as any of us had planned, it's

important to remember the journey that got you to

this point in time. Celebrate your successes,

friendships, and relationships built while you were

here. Holy Infant is a special place--don't forget to

take it with you as you start this next chapter of

your life. Hopefully the seed of faith planted in you

while you were young has started to grow and

bloom! Take care of that gift--water it with prayer,

let it bask in the sunshine of the sacraments. I

wish you all the best as you set off on your new

path! God's Got This!

Blessings,

Mrs. Villhard

WORDS OF WISDOM

8th grade class:

Finishing up your time at Holy Infant would

be one big mix of emotions under normal

circumstances, and we all know this is far

from normal. Feel your feelings, and as you

begin high school know that all the major

milestones up ahead for you will mean so

much more now.

Good luck as you begin the next part of your

adventure!

Mrs. Pille

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Class of 2020,

It’s crazy to think that it has been nine years since I graduated from Holy Infant. First off, I know

this wasn’t the way you wanted things to end, but I hope you have been able to cling on to all the

great memories that you did get to have. The countless field trips, class projects, Pecos Bill, the

6th grade play, all the field days, and so much more. You have been fortunate and blessed to have

an amazing education. You’ve mastered math, science, art, history, English and so many more

subjects. You’ve also been given the opportunity to learn about our faith and grow in your

relationship with Christ along with your classmates.

In this letter, I want to tell you all those things I wish I knew that last time I walked out those doors

as a student at Holy Infant. Don’t lose your relationships that you formed here. Whether that’s

with a teacher or classmate. You may have been a student at Holy Infant for one year or nine years,

but either way you built some incredible relationships and I encourage you to continue those even

though you may not be here every day with them. You will make awesome friendships in high

school, but those don’t happen quickly. You can lean on your Holy Infant community as you make

this slightly scary, but ultimately exciting transition.

Don’t lose the faith. Whether or not you are going to a private school or public school, your faith

will be challenged. Stand firm in your beliefs. You have learned a lot about your faith at Holy Infant

through the Sacraments, your teachers, and EDGE. Continue to learn about the Lord and your

relationship with Him. Continue your faith journey at Holy Infant Youth Ministry. Make the decision

to have your faith be part of who you are. You can play your favorite sport, join the theater

department, play an instrument, run for student body government, etc. and still live out your faith

life. Make it part of your day to day!

Don’t lose yourself. You are all so bright, funny, sweet, kind and so much more. Your class is going

to do some big things. Just make sure not to lose those qualities that make you, you. Find people

that love you for who you are. You all deserve the best and I don’t doubt that you will find that in

this next chapter of your life. If you keep the faith and stay connected to your family and friends

that got you here, you will be just fine!

Last one, I promise! Say thank you to your parents or your guardian. They have made so many

sacrifices to get you to where you are today and will continue to do so. We can never truly pay

them back, but we can definitely try our best. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without mine.

Please know of my prayers for you all as you move on to this new chapter in your life! You are

always welcomed back home and to Holy Infant Youth Ministry. I hope you all decide to continue

on your faith journey with us.

In Christ,

Tommy McAndrews

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Graduates,

You are such a talented class of artists, musicians,

actors and actresses, athletes, and scholars. You have

formed deep friendships and connections here at Holy

Infant. There were some beautiful, unforgettable

moments this year—moments of triumphs and

moments of loss. But there were also moments where

your blossoming faith was so evident it was a reminder

of why Catholic education—and our Catholic

community—is so important. I can’t wait to see how

God is going to use YOU in our world! Keep

your eyes focused on Him. Run the race He has

set before you, and never forget that we are

cheering for you all the way! Graduates, may you

continue to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ over

the next four years. May you strive to glorify Him in all

you do. And in four short years from now, when you

walk across the stage for the final time—may you

continue to be disciples of Christ who go out and

transform the world.

Blessings,

Miss Foley

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear 8th Grade,

heading off into the exciting world of high school. I

know your time at Holy Infant is not ending the way

you could have imagined, but know that we are all

praying for you and grateful for the many blessings

you've shared with us over the years.

Holy Infant will not be the same without you! I pray

that you continue to hold our school close to your

hearts as you enter this wonderful new phase of

your life. May you continue to grow in faith and may

your character continue to be shaped by lessons

learned at Holy Infant.

Love and Blessings,

Mrs. Penilla

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Graduating Class of 2020,

The year is almost over and look how far you’ve come! It must be a very proud

moment for you! Choosing a dream requires your efforts and passion. The hard

work isn’t over when you graduate. It’s just a break as you enter your next big

adventure in life. Oh, the places you’ll go!

As you head into high school you will learn a few life lessons on your own:

10) Make friendships: Don’t be afraid to join clubs, play sports, be involved.

9) Ask questions: Don’t hide from your mistakes, learn from them.

8) Keep learning: every moment is an opportunity to learn.

7) Be Kind: Kindness goes a long way

6) Get to know your teachers: and your teachers will get to know you

5) If you have a problem, find an adult to help you: chances are an adult has

lived these experiences

4) Keep learning: Wait I already said that one.

3) Trust yourself. Trust your instincts. If it seems like a sheep in a wolf’s

clothing…run, don’t walk!

2) Believe: Believe in yourself, because you can. You all can make a difference in

our world.

1) Pray: God is your rock

May God watch over you. Congratulations on your accomplishments and best

wishes for all to come.

Love,

Mrs. Aschenbrenner

WORDS OF WISDOM

Dear Class of 2020,

Here you are at the end of your elementary school years and

anticipating the new adventures ahead of you. It seems like yesterday

when I had you in 5th grade and brings back many wonderful

memories ~ Eric the Red, dubbing knights, the Boston tea party, Boston

massacre, marching in the halls, the state fair, math baseball, baptizing

babies, cosmic bowling, Notre Dame, my love for “cats” ~ I can go on

and on. You were my last class and my most special class. I think of you

often and pray for you always. As you leave Holy Infant, always take

the lessons you learned with you — love your country, love God,

always treat others with kindness and respect, keep Jesus close in your

heart. Congratulations to you all. I miss you.

Love,

“I AM”

I am a family man who

loves basketball.

I wonder what life would

be like without my family. I

hear the basketball

bouncing up and down.

I see players jumping up to

the clouds.

I want the world to have

peace.

I am a family man who

loves basketball.

I pretend I’m in the NBA.

I feel the leather ball

gripping to my skin.

I touch the top of the

backboard in my dreams.

I worry I will not be with

my family forever.

I cry at the thought of not

being with my family.

I am a family man who

loves basketball.

I understand the struggles

of not achieving a goal you

worked hard for.

I say we all have a purpose

in this world.

I dream of playing for the

Lakers when I am older.

I try to help people less

fortunate than me.

I hope to make a

difference in this world.

I am a family man who

loves basketball.

I am a funny guy that likes basketball.

I wonder what school will be like in 2021.

I hear the balls dribbling on a basketball court.

I see our star player Sam dominating in games.

I want to play basketball again.

I am a funny guy that likes basketball.

I pretend that I am the king of my own kingdom.

I feel the pressure of my responsibilities.

I touch the hearts of all my peasants.

I worry that I am not doing good enough.

I cry because of the horrible things happening in our world.

I am a funny guy that likes basketball.

I understand what everyone is going through right now.

I say we have to stick together.

I dream that one day we can all return to school.

I try to make the best out of every situation.

I hope we can spend more time as a class before our time runs out.

I am a funny guy that likes basketball.

Moving On

We Should Not Forget Our Roots…

AS WE GROW AND BRANCH OUT

INTO NEW EXPERIENCES…

Graduates prayer

Father, I have knowledge, so I pray you’ll show me

now how to use it wisely and find a way somehow to

make the world I live in a little better place, and

make life, with its problems, a bit easier to face…

Grant me faith and courage and put purpose in my

days, and show me how to serve Thee in the most

effective ways so all my education, my knowledge,

and my skill may find their true fulfillment as I

learn to do Thy will…

And may I ever be aware in everything I do that

knowledge comes from learning – and wisdom

comes from You.

God Bless the Class of 2020
