BYLAW 10: USE OF PROFESSIONAL SEAL & SIGNATURE<br />

10.1 Only Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Forest</strong>ers, Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologists and associate<br />

members acting in accordance with these bylaws and guidelines established by council, and<br />

Special Permit Holders acting in accordance with these bylaws and the terms and conditions<br />

<strong>of</strong> their permits, may affix their signatures and seals or stamps to pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents as<br />

defined in Bylaw 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7.<br />

10.2 Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Forest</strong>ers must affix their signatures and seals or stamps to all:<br />

estimates; specific actions; reports; letter reports; letters; memoranda; documents; plans; and<br />

all such other pr<strong>of</strong>essional papers and things containing pr<strong>of</strong>essional opinion or work product<br />

(collectively referred to as a “pr<strong>of</strong>essional document” or “pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents”) that he/she<br />

prepares or are prepared under his/her supervision.<br />

10.3 Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologists must affix their signatures and seals or stamps to all<br />

estimates; specific actions; reports; letter reports; letters; memoranda; documents; plans; and<br />

all such other pr<strong>of</strong>essional papers and things containing pr<strong>of</strong>essional opinion or work product<br />

(collectively referred to as a “pr<strong>of</strong>essional document” or “pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents”) that he/she<br />

prepares or are prepared under his/her supervision.<br />

10.4 Special Permit Holders and Limited Licence Holders must affix their signatures and seals<br />

or stamps only to those pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents authorized under the terms and conditions <strong>of</strong><br />

their permits or Licences.<br />

10.5 Associate Members must affix their signatures and seals or stamps only to work authorized<br />

by council guideline.<br />

10.6 Where some or all <strong>of</strong> the work described in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional document has not been<br />

carried out directly by the member authorized to affix his/her signature, seal or stamp to that<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional document, and where that person is satisfied that the work has been carried out<br />

to a standard expected <strong>of</strong> an association member, he/she must sign and seal the pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

document and depending on the type <strong>of</strong> review undertaken, shall add a certification statement<br />

in either <strong>of</strong> the following two (2) forms:<br />

10.6.1 certify that the work described herein fulfills the standards expected <strong>of</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> British Columbia <strong>Forest</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and that I did personally supervise the<br />

work; or<br />

10.6.2 I certify that I have reviewed this document and, while I did not personally supervise<br />

the work described, I have determined that this work has been done to the standards expected<br />

<strong>of</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> British Columbia <strong>Forest</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.<br />

10.7 A signature and stamp or seal may be affixed to pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents in electronic<br />

format only in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the association for that<br />

purpose.<br />

10.8 Notwithstanding any other provision in these bylaws, a member shall be held accountable<br />

for any and all pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents he or she signs, seals or stamps, whether the<br />
