members as soon as convenient and must be reported at the annual general meeting.<br />

1.16 Council may appoint either:<br />

1.16.1 A Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Forest</strong>er to fill a vacancy caused by the incapacity, resignation<br />

or death <strong>of</strong> an elected council member who is a Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Forest</strong>er; or<br />

1.16.2 A Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist to fill a vacancy caused by the incapacity, resignation<br />

or death <strong>of</strong> an elected council member who is a Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist.<br />

1.17 Council may, by vote <strong>of</strong> not less than two-thirds (2/3) <strong>of</strong> its members in attendance at<br />

a council meeting and in accordance with criteria established by council from time-to-time,<br />

remove a council member for non performance <strong>of</strong> their duties or failure to live up to their<br />

obligations as councillors.<br />

1.17.1 Any council member against whom a vote <strong>of</strong> removal is proposed must be given at least<br />

five (5) business day’s notice <strong>of</strong> the proposed vote and the reasons for proposed removal.<br />

1.18 This transition Bylaw 1.18 shall be in place to allow for the election <strong>of</strong> the first slate <strong>of</strong><br />

Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist councillors after which these provisions will no longer form part<br />

<strong>of</strong> these bylaws.<br />

1.18.1 Since the election process for the fifty-seventh (57th) council begins before the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

implementation date for the transfer <strong>of</strong> Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologists to the association,<br />

that part <strong>of</strong> Bylaw 1.4 which requires a candidate for election be a registered member in good<br />

standing, shall not apply for Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist candidates running for election to<br />

the fifty-seventh (57th) council.<br />

1.18.2 Candidates for Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist council positions, either nominated<br />

by the nominating committee or by other members, must be applied science technologist,<br />

forestry members in good standing <strong>of</strong> the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians <strong>of</strong><br />

British Columbia (“ASTT<strong>BC</strong>”) forest resource technologist discipline as <strong>of</strong> the date <strong>of</strong> record<br />

set by council and must have declared their intent in writing to transfer their membership to<br />

the association effective on or before December 1, 2003.<br />

1.18.3 Those forest technologists elected to sit on council must actually become members <strong>of</strong><br />

the association failing which their election will be invalidated and the forest technologist, if<br />

any, with the next highest ballots will be declared elected.<br />

1.18.4 ASTT<strong>BC</strong> Technologists who:<br />

1.18.4.1 are or were members in good standing and in the forest resource technologist<br />

discipline as <strong>of</strong> the date <strong>of</strong> record set by council; and<br />

1.18.4.2 have declared their intent in writing to transfer their membership to the association,<br />

shall be entitled to nominate and vote for Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist council candidates.<br />

1.18.5 Nothing in this transition bylaw removes or otherwise adversely affects the rights <strong>of</strong><br />

Registered Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Forest</strong>ers to nominate or vote for Registered <strong>Forest</strong> Technologist<br />

council candidates.<br />
