WINTERFEST CELEBRATION<br />

On a February night, hundreds <strong>of</strong> Van Andel Institute donors,<br />

researchers and supporters attended the 14th annual<br />

<strong>Winter</strong>fest Celebration, our signature event that directly<br />

benefits Parkinson’s disease research. Held at Cascade Hills<br />

Country Club, guests enjoyed cocktails, a strolling dinner and had<br />

the opportunity to hear from the Institute’s scientists and learn<br />

about advancements in Parkinson’s research.<br />

VAI Public Lecture Series:<br />

A Focus on Pancreatic Cancer<br />

Van Andel Institute Public Lecture Series: A Focus on Pancreatic<br />

Cancer took place in March <strong>2019</strong>. Free and open to the public,<br />

this informative event featured presentations by Institute scientists<br />

that highlighted how basic and translational research are bringing<br />

forth more effective methods to detect and treat pancreatic cancer.<br />

Speakers at the event included Dr. Bart Williams, pr<strong>of</strong>essor and<br />

director <strong>of</strong> the Institute’s Center for Cancer and Cell Biology, and<br />

Dr. Brian Haab, a pr<strong>of</strong>essor at VAI and assistant dean <strong>of</strong> VAI’s<br />

Graduate School. Following the presentations, guests participated<br />

in a Q&A session with the scientists.<br />
