VAI PUBLIC LECTURE SERIES: A FOCUS<br />

ON PARKINSON’S, ALZHEIMER’S AND<br />

LEWY BODY DEMENTIA<br />

This Van Andel Institute Public Lecture Series took place in May<br />

and featured presentations by Institute scientists whose<br />

research focuses on Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Lewy body<br />

dementia, as well as a Q&A session with audience members.<br />

Dr. José Brás and Dr. Rita Guerreiro discussed how these diseases<br />

are related and how research might one day bring about new and<br />

better diagnostics and treatments.<br />

BOARD OF GOVERNORS DINNER<br />

Members <strong>of</strong> Van Andel Institute’s Board <strong>of</strong> Governors gathered<br />

together at Cascade Hills Country Club for an annual dinner<br />

that highlights recent Institute achievements and gives<br />

members the chance to hear directly from VAI’s leadership.<br />

The <strong>2019</strong> dinner featured a keynote presentation by Institute<br />

Chairman and CEO David Van Andel, as well as presentations<br />

by Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Peter A. Jones and Chief Education<br />

Officer Terra Tarango.<br />
