Q. Is saree losing its sheen in thecurrent times?A. A few years back, there was a largepercentage of girls and women who gavesaree a miss and preferred to wear morecontemporary outfits like dresses andgowns. But in the present, as I see thetrend of sarees is back with a bang! Thesedays, women are again experimenting withsarees, their drapes are traditional and theyoungsters are wearing the garment with atwist- like over jeggings, jeans, palazzosand others, making it a style statement. Theyoung generation is definitely taking morepains to dress up well, and that too bygoing in for fusion styles-the best of boththe worlds. For me saree as a garment hasdefinitely not lost its sheen, on the contrary,it has made a beautiful comeback.Q. Which is the most popularsaree drape that celebrities liketo experiment with?A. Celebrities like Shilpa Shetty is alwaysopen to experimenting and she is happyand confident to sport various styles likethe saree with denim, fusion drapesamongst others. Others mostly like to keepit simple, with traditional drapes withflowing Pallu.Since these celebrities always wear sareesdesigned by renowned designers, theyprefer to highlight each intricate details ofthe work in the saree- whether itsembroidery or embellishments. I enjoyed working with DeepikaPadukone the most. Whenever I drape her,it’s always a pleasure- she is very clear onher concepts and the style she would wantto wear on that particular occasion.Also, she is the real Diva who can carry anydrape style with elegance and ease.Moreover, being extremely well-mannered,I always get a lot of respect from her. It isabsolutely a delight to dress her.Q. Saree is the classic and mostsensuous attire. Your comment.A. Saree is the most graceful traditionalattire of Indian women. Indian sarees are soversatile that it can be used for anyoccasion as it varies from traditional to sexyto bold. The way a saree is draped arounda woman’s body accentuates the curves ofthe body and hence makes beholder lookelegant and sensuous. Being a womanmyself, I think it all depends on the personwho’s wearing the six yards and with whatattitude and comfort that makes a lot ofdifference.Q.
