The answer is simple. It’s all-year round. Nomatter what season you choose to visit, there is alwayssomething to see and do.WINTER (DECEMBER – MARCH)For around three months of the year Martin Countybecomes a winter wonderland. The surroundinglandscape takes on an ethereal beauty that’s justbegging to be enjoyed. Swap your four-wheeledvehicle for a snowmobile and head out onto 140 milesof groomed trails that connect with Faribault Countyto the east, and Watonwan County to the north. Donsome skis and enjoy the scenery via some cross-countryskiing, or how about a snowshoeing adventure? Thereare groomed trails at Cedar Creek Park, as well as trailsat Bright Lake, Timberlane and Cedar Hanson Parks.Fairmont has an indoor arena for ice-skating, or try yourhand at some ice fishing at one of our local lakes.SPRING (APRIL – MAY)As the winter snows begin to melt, it’s time to breathein the fresh smells of spring. Blow away the cobwebsduring a leisurely ride or stroll along one of our manybicycling and walking trails throughout Fairmont, orpedal over to Bright Lake, Timberlane or Cedar HansonParks. You will also find horseback trails at theselocations. Golfers can tee off at two challenging 18-holecourses at Interlaken or Rose Lake Golf Clubs. And iftime is not on your side, then take to the fairways of FoxLake Golf Club for a nine-hole round.www.visitfairmontmn.comSUMMER (JUNE – AUGUST)Where better to enjoy the lazy days of summer thanon the shores and waters of one of Martin County’smany lakes? Enjoy scenic views from a boat, canoe orkayak, catch a fish or two, or up the energy factor witha spot of water skiing. Water activities also beckon atthe Aquatic Park in Fairmont, along with area swimmingpools. Hiking, biking and golfing continue on from thespring months, as well as the opportunity for a round ofdisc golf. Fairmont has three, 18-hole disc golf courses –players throw plastic discs into a series of metal baskets– all conveniently located at Cedar Creek Park.FALL (SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER)This is the perfect time to take in the magnificenceand beauty of Mother Nature’s changing colors. Brightshades of green make way for red, yellow, and gold,creating a spectacular backdrop from which to enjoy fallactivities. Pick up some sweet and juicy apples from oneof two local orchards, or grab some cider or delicioushomemade pies.
