MEETS
is A compilation of original works of poetry, personal essay and short
story, written by 5th through 8th grade students at North Haven
Community School. During the global Covid-19 pandemic, from March 15
through May 29, 2020, writing classes met via Google Meets. Students
created a body of work reflective of the strange and unique situation
they found themselves in. They became a trusting and open critical friends
group, giving each other feedback through the drafting process.
Students had the option to submit up to three pieces to the magazine, and
to be credited as their first name, by a pseudonym, or to submit
anonymously. they also selected or created the images accompanying the
text.
Meets wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of EVa Hopkins,
and the support of the parents, all of whom were asked to suddenly
become teachers.
Some of the pieces in Meets are funny, some gory, some wistful, some
pastoral. All are true voices of North Haven. We hope you enjoy the
experience.
