celebrated the triumphs,

struggles, and rich history

of women in America. Winning

sites received a total of

$1.8 million in grants to

fund their preservation

projects, in addition to

an initial grant of $10,000

each to increase public

awareness of these historic

places and build grassroots

support for their Main

Street district.
