18 Still Standing – 30 Years on For a business to survive and succeed for thirty years, the products, the prices and the service offered by that company needs to consistently out-perform local competitors. JC Kitchens & Bedrooms is such a company. Founded in 1990 by Jean Cutler, who was a Designer at Beamans in St Helens with her industrial chemist husband Allan, it’s still going thirty years later with Allan and Jean’s daughter Jo-Anne at the helm, ably assisted by husband John. JC Kitchens & Bedrooms now occupies impressive and spacious showrooms on Greenfield Road in St Helens comprising of two floors of inspirational kitchen and bedroom displays. Another vital ingredient of long-standing success is the calibre of the people running the business, and when the lockdown was announced, it would have been easy for the owners of such an established store to close its doors and potter around in the garden with the rest of us, and still be fairly confident that the business would recover when the time came to reopen. Instead Jo-Anne, along with son Alfie, spent every day for ten weeks volunteering at the Steve Prescott Foundation’s Essential Items project at the Eccleston Arms Bar & Grill alongside other volunteers including Johnny Vegas, Paul Sculthorpe and Lee Briers. So, it’s no wonder that JC Kitchens & Bedrooms enter their fourth decade of business with an outstanding reputation for inspiration, expertise and quality.
