1. HOUSING AND PUBLIC AND OTHER BUILDINGS –
MASONRY!
House prices were vastly lower at the end of the Second World
War in 1945, and even in all that chaos; affordable, attractive,
but often bomb-damaged housing and most other buildings,
so in need of at least some repair or even demolition, were
extremely widely available.
So that the Current Global Housing Crisis, especially the
absolutely astronomical, millions of times cost, to buy a house
or even a flat that barely ever even needed a mortgage back
then, 70 years ago, must still seem astonishing in our
relatively lavishly rich, even pure luxury for most, early 21 st
Century, especially to old people who still remember ultracheap
housing from way back in 1945.
Yet incredibly every greedy house owner just goes on still,
forever, moaning on, looking utterly miserable, and whingeing
– all just about their bleeding ‘crippling mortgage
repayments’.
A world population of ‘Victor Meldrew’ types – all over the
price of housing – and above all because that market has been
virtually stagnant for far too many years now…! Before ‘credit
crunch 2007’?
It was the succession of very evil further huge wars in the 50’s
and 60’s, that actually caused house prices to massively
multiply by now, 2019, after rocketing up, mostly,
1945-2007 – or so.
