SMART REPAIR? 

SMART is an acronym for Small (to) 

Medium Area Repair Technology. 

In other words: tools and methods 

to repair minor cosmetic damages. 

The available systems include interior repairs, glass 

repairs, wheel refurbishment, dent repair, and spot 

repair. Repairs take less time to fix and requires fewer

The dried mould film is removed

Henrik takes the shaping and cooling bag 

and presses it onto the damage spot for 

about a minute, then completely removes the 

green film. “It looks great, all that’s left is to 

paint it.” There is a whole range of different 

colours for Ford plastic parts. First, Henrik 

carries out a paint test on a cardboard box 

and compares this with the colour of the

Examination 

“The first thing to do is: always have a good 

look at the damage,” Henrik explains. “Many 

of these minor accidents can be made good 

with the help of the various repair systems.” 

On this Focus, a steel pipe had banged into 

the dashboard as a result of braking. The 

customer had bought some pipes from a DIY 

hypermarket and, as he had no roof rack, 

balanced them across the tops of the back 

seat and front passenger seat. Under heavy 

braking, one of the pipes broke free and 

banged into the dashboard. After inspecting 

the scratches, Henrik pronounces confidently: 

“No problem. We’ll make it good as 

new.” 

Step by Step 

Taking the FSE Basic Repair Suitcase B1, he 

first cleans all round the area of the impact 

with lint-free cloth and plastcleaner, then 

masks the surrounding area and tucks a 

piece of paper in the glove compartment. 

Now it’s the turn of the gun with the mouldmaker 

cartridge. Henrik carefully flows some 

of the green viscous material onto an undamaged 

area of the dashboard beside the 

scratches, then spreads it with the small 

palette knife to make a thin, even film. “In this 

way, the surface pattern of the dashboard is 

reproduced and later copied onto the damaged 

spot. Don’t worry about the cast leaving 

traces behind, because it won’t,” Henrik 

explains. “Drying time is about five minutes.” 

Next he removes raised parts of the scratches 

using fine emery paper. “When doing this, 

try to minimise any roughening of the surrounding 

area,” he advises, and then pulls off 

the green moulding material which has dried 

in the meantime. He then places this carefully 

over the damage spot, draws an outline of 

the damage on it with a pen, and lays the film 

aside again. “Now I use the palette knife to 

apply a little B Compound carefully to the 

hollow and smooth it down. Now you have 

to wait. When it has completely hardened, it 

appears a little transparent.”

Heat Sealing Iron 

The electric heat sealing iron is the next tool 

to be used and Henrik illustrates what the 

three indicator lights mean: “When I turn the 

small regulator to say 150° C, the yellow lamp 

shows me that it is heating up to the desired 

temperature. Green means that the iron 

has reached the set temperature and is

Handling and application. The Leather crack filler paste contains 

approximately 30% water, which means that when the product 

is dry, the volume of the product will have diminished by 30%. 

Consequently, deep scratches will probably have to be refilled 

once more. The adhesion of a filler is depending on the thickness 

of the product. The thinner, the better the adhesion. The thicker 

the worse the adhesion. You can sand B leather crack filler with 

fine sanding paper (P320-P400) before adding the final color to 

the filled scratch. 

Vinyl repair glue 

B Compound is a water based flexible acrylic leather 

filler for holes in leather and vinyl. Must be over 

coated with water based or solvent based leather 

coating. Resistant to common used leather cleaner 

and protection. 

Curing time. Dust-dry after approx. 1 minute by 

heating at 140 degrees. Set to touch when cooled 

down. 

Handling and Application. Clean the area with plast cleaner 

part no. 39. Fill the damaged area with B Compound using 

the palette knife part no. 13. Apply a mouldmaker copy on top 

of the wet glue. Use the heat sealing iron on the mould from 

Mouldmaker part no. 21 and heat the product until it is melting. 

Cool down with cooling bag part no. 7 and carefully remove 

the mould.

All automotive windscreens are laminated. The two layers 

of glass are permanently bonded together by a plastic 

membrane. If something hits a laminated windscreen, like 

a flying stone, the glass will not shatter. This is because the 

damaged area sticks to the plastic membrane – and this is 

why the stone chip in the windscreen can be repaired. 

The system is designed around a quick mount 

repair bridge with leveling legs to self-align on the 

windscreen, giving a stable mounting platform to 

inject our Dual X2 Resin into the repair area using 

our patented 2 in 1 vacuum injection tool. 

To cure the resin, the system includes a special 

UV-LED Lamp that cures the resin in 30 sec, which 

is faster than traditional curing equipment. Making

hugely expensive and very time consuming for the insurer, 

the repairer and the owner. Now specially designed vacuum 

equipment, templates and unique mouldmaker provide a

For the caravan & leisure market HBC has successfully 

designed and developed a specialist repair process which 

has been rigorously tested and now features a world-wide 

patent. This system is capable of repairing major damage on

Most caravans, motorhomes or trailers feature panels made from a 

sandwich design with a layer of hard plastic or wood as the innermost 

layer, an insulating foam panel in the middle and a textured aluminum 

plate as the outer layer. The primary task of the structure is to make the 

aluminum sheet more resistant to shocks and to compensate for minor 

irregularities. Damage can be caused by extreme weather conditions, hail etc. 

or incidental accidents or vandalism, on campsites, during transit or at home.

How does the Caravan 

Repair System work? 

With the specialist repair process 

an exact copy of the surface 

design or pattern is taken (on the 

undamaged part of the panel) using 

the patented vacuum tool, templates 

and mouldmaker. 

The mould can then be transferred to the 

damaged area where the special E-Filler 

is injected, leaving a surface structure 

which corresponds exactly to the original 

panel. After the material hardens the 

borders are sanded and the whole repair 

area is powder blasted using a specialist 

granulate E-Powder. The repaired area can 

then be primed and painted.

The foundation of the system is 15 base colours, 

which can be mixed together with the included 

software. When the colour software is installed 

on your pc you are ready to start. Simple and easy! 

When starting a caravan spot repair you need to 

ensure that you’re using the right colour tone. In 

the system you will find two large colour indexes 

making it an easy job to select the correct color 

tone. Simply enter the right tone number into 

the colour mixing software and press enter - the 

software will provide you with the recipe to mix 

with the 15 base colours. 

You can mix the recipe on the included mini scale. 

You are now ready to spray the right colour on the 

damage or the repaired area. After spraying the 

colour, spray the surface around the repair area 

with fade thinner, which melts the new and old 

paint together. 

CARAVAN PAINT COLOUR SOFTWARE - grants you direct access to 

our entire mixing formula database. Accesss code and download link 

is included with the system. The Colour Match Software is updated 

yearly at no additional cost and contains all the MSDS information and

Painted Alloy Wheels is the most common finish and they 

are offered in a wide variety of designs. Painted wheels are 

sprayed or powder coated. The process of painting a wheel 

consists of prepping the wheel, priming, painting and applying 

a clear coat, which seals the finish against corrosion. 

E3 Alloy Wheel Repair System - effectively repairs kerbed,

Polished Alloy Wheels are the most difficult of all wheel styles to 

identify. They are generally very expensive and are constructed of the 

highest quality material. Some polished finishes resemble painted 

finishes while others resemble chrome. Polished wheels have a lighter 

look and may not be clear-coated. Polished wheels that are not clearcoated 

have a much higher luster but they require a great deal of 

maintenance. You will never see a metallic sparkle on polished wheels 

when viewed in bright sunlight. A polished wheel closely resembles 

silverware.

Full Process Painting

The wheel painter is a self-contained unit. 

Keeping the full workflow of painting, 

extraction, and curing in one user-friendly 

solution. It is equipped with both curing 

and extraction systems. 

Wheel Paint Extraction 

During the painting process, it is extremely important to 

have the best possible airflow in the Wheel Paint unit to 

avoid overspray and prevent the environment from being 

polluted with fumes and paint mist. The inlet filter takes 

care of clean inlet air to make sure no dust particles will 

affect the painting process. 

The airflow in the unit is around 0,3 m/s which is even higher 

than an average spray booth. The ATEX-approved extraction 

ensures the paint mist and fumes are discharged through the 

filters to an optional filter bank or spray booth. 

Wheel Paint curing systems 

BUILT-IN INFRA-RED AND ULTRAVIOLET 

The Wheel Paint machine is equipped with 2 types of 

curing systems. Infra-Red (IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) lamps 

are installed inside the machine to make sure the primer, 

base coat, and clear coat will be cured in the best and 

fastest way possible. 

Depending on the type of paint used which is selected in 

the program, the lamps are switched on for the required 

time to fully cure the layers applied. Once cured the rim 

can be taken out of the machine allowing the tire to be 

mounted. Curing times are between 35 seconds for UV 

up to 20 min for IR.

Electronic Spindle Brake Upgrade for WR-DCM3 

Almost instant braking of the wheel. Waiting times can annoying in the repair 

process. After deburring or the cutting pass is finished it can take up to 20 seconds 

before the wheel is static and the door can be opened. Doing 3-4 passes means 

a waiting time of more than one minute per wheel. Having this brake might save 

you ~15-20 minutes per day or in other words; repairing one wheel more per day!

How it works! 

UV-C light generates/produces ozone (O3) in connection with the 

natural oxygen (O2) content in the air; this happens in the same 

way as with sun rays. By using this method no harmful nitrogen 

oxides (NOX) are created. 

Ozone has the ability to combine with organic substances in 

the air such as Nicotine, and the ozone oxidizes these. Thereby 

the bacteria, viruses, and spores present in the air are being 

eliminated. During the cleaning process, the odour air in the room

The thing is when you produce ozone with high voltage

Paintless dent removal is traditionally repaired 

when accessing the rear of the dented panels in 

order to successfully massage out the dent(s). 

But not all dented panels are accessible from 

the rear. At times you will encounter ‘double 

skinned’ panels or even completely sealed 

sections, adding to the cars structural strength 

such as the cant/roof rail. For this type of 

repairs HBC system has developed its range of 

“Glue Pulling” PDR Systems and Tools.

1. Identify the dent area. The surface must be free 

of grease, water and at least 20 degrees Celsius. 

Take the suitable aluminum adaptor (4 sizes 

available) out of the box. 

Strong adhesion provides extreme 

traction combined with easy removal. 

The kit does not damage the body 

paintwork. Completely safe to use! 

2. Open the box containing the black cold glue. 

Separate the proper amount and apply it evenly 

on the aluminum adaptor. 

3. After the glue is fixed on the adaptor, screw the 

aluminum adaptor on the sliding hammer. 

4. Apply the sliding hammer with an adaptor on the 

repair spot, gently make an effort to stick to the 

spot. Use the hammer axis as a lever to pull out 

the dent. You may apply several times to get the 

best result.

Learn how to fix dents and scratches 

on both painted and polished alloy 

wheels. Leaving the rims looking as 

good as new. 

The training is divided into a theoretical 

part and a practical part. The trainer 

walks you through the WR-DCM3 

functions and shows you a repair. You 

will then practice the process under 

supervision. 

Learn how to repair side panels on 

caravans/mobile homes instead of 

replacing them, using our patented 

repair method. You will create structure 

copies of original patterns and work with 

a unique injection method for the filler. 

On-Site training courses 

We provide onsite courses that deliver our high-quality training in the convenience of 

your workplace across the world. The HBC training academy has a team of mobile 

trainers who travel the world supporting HBC partners, distributors and customers. 

All trainers are highly skilled technicians with many years of experience in the industry 

and working with SMART repair equipment. 

The number of participants is up to you. We recommend a maximum of 8 people. 

Initial training is carried out on sections of bumpers, dashboards, seats, wheels and 

other body panels which must be made avaliable by you. Our trainer will contact 

you before the training with instructions for training material and samples. In the 

specialist training program, which is recommended after the initial training and 

practice period, repairs are carried out on “Live” vehicles to ensure a very high 

standard of finish and technical expertise.
