Please contact Paragon Property Management Office to activate
existing cards and obtain new wristbands OR obtain new cards and new
wristbands, phone 210-580-4230.
POOL
The pool hours will stay the same. Pool hours are Tuesday-Sunday 6 AM-
10 PM. These hours will be enforced. There are cameras at the pool and
officers will be sent out if necessary. Remember, no smoking, cussing,
rough housing, pets, unaccompanied children under 14 at the pool. The
rules are posted at the pool for your reference. Our pool contractor has
informed us that he will be giving the pool a heavy dose of chlorine/
chemicals on Friday mornings in order to support the weekend crowds.
We suggest that you DO NOT swim before 9 AM on Fridays in order to
avoid any skin irritation. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
You MUST be current on your HOA dues or be on a payment plan to
gain access to the pool. There will be a $20 convenience fee for the
management company to get you an activated pool card. You should
be able to pay this fee over the phone with a credit card. You will need
to turn in your old access card to a Paragon Property employee or pay
a $10 charge for a new card. You can pick up your card from Paragon
Property or wait for delivery (could be up to 2 weeks). You will need to
sign paperwork and give them your old card in order to get an activated
card and 2018 bands. If you are a new renter to the community, please
call Paragon Property at 210-580-4230 to fill out a Renter’s Information
Form so that you will be in the system and able to get pool cards/bands.
DÉCOR OF THE SEASON:
Copperbrook is happy to announce we will be awarding trophies 4 times
throughout the year now! Best Summer yard will be judged on July 15 th or
later. So, keep those yards looking great so you can earn bragging rights!
CRIME ALERT:
Residents need to know that there has been a marked increase in crime
in our community and surrounding areas, including recent car burglaries
and a burglary/assault in March 2018. Harris County MUD 130 pays for
the contract officers for our community. They are being extra vigilant
and are aware of the increase in activity in recent months. Copperbrook
appreciates our officer’s efforts, but we as residents MUST do our part as
well. Upon speaking to one of our contract deputies at the December
Board meeting, he indicated that the flood lights above the garage that
are motion activated, are a great deterrent and a great way to alert officers
to movement when they are making their rounds at night. We would like
to encourage neighbors to protect each other’s lives and property by
watching for and reporting suspicious activities... the residents become
the “eyes” of the patrolling deputies. If you see something, SAY something!
The object is to prevent a crime from happening by having a deputy
check out even the slightest irregularity in your street’s normal routine.
Our deputies would prefer to spend 10 minutes checking out a call rather
than follow up on a crime that has already been committed. Please don’t
hesitate to call 911 when you see anything suspicious. And PLEASE lock
your cars and remove all valuables! If you would like to learn more about

VIOLATION/PAST DUE LETTERS:
Simply stated, if you get a violation letter or you are past due in your
HOA dues, PLEASE call the Paragon Property at 210-580-4230 to discuss
a payment plan or get an extension on a needed repair to your property.
The management company and Board of Directors are not unreasonable
and will make every reasonable effort to work with residents if you
will make an effort on your part to either initiate the repairs or pay the
fines, whichever the case. Communication is simple and vital to keeping
the issue from escalating. The Board of Directors along with Paragon
Property plan to be consistent and proactive in keeping our community
looking great, feeling safe and making sure dues and fines are collected
in a timely manner and homes and yards are kept up to a standard to

NEXT DOOR APP:
This is a free app so homeowners can communicate instantly with one
another. This app can be used to request referrals from other homeowners
such as plumber, landscaper or a fence company. You can also post lost
or found pets, report suspicious vehicle or person in the neighborhood.
All you need to do is download the app and enter the information they
request. The information that is requested is the same information you
can already obtain online so do not let this deter you from looking into
the app.
MONTHLY MEETING:
Copperbrook HOA would like to welcome all homeowners to come
to our monthly meetings at La Madeleine the first Tuesday of every
month at 5 PM. The open session where we welcome residents to attend
starts at 6 PM. If the door to the meeting room is closed, simply knock
and the Board will let you in. Please come share your ideas and learn of
the progress on the latest projects and events in our neighborhood. It’s a
great way to get involved and stay connected to your community. If you
know ahead of time that you will attend or you have a particular concern
that you would like added to the agenda, please call Paragon Property.
RENOVATIONS
We are aware that on occasion homeowners receive letters from
the management company that are considered unwarranted by the
homeowner. If you plan to do a small renovation or do major cleaning
and you know that you may have something unsightly in your driveway/
front yard for a short period of time, please call Paragon Property and
make them aware of your activities so that she can make a note on your
account in order to avoid a letter being sent out.
If you are planning a major renovation to the exterior of your home by
painting your house, replacing your fence or adding storage to your
yard, remember to contact our neighborhood’s Architectural Review
Committee. You can call Paragon Property (our management company)
to inquire about the proper forms needed to make your submission and
they will gladly email the forms to you. We hope to have these forms
available for download on the community website soon. The Architectural
Review Committee will review the request to make sure the request
meets the neighborhoods deed restrictions. The committee’s approval
must be granted before making such changes to the facades of the home
such as paint colors, roof colors and burglar bars (which are prohibited
on the front doors or any windows). Also, sheds and canopies should not
be visible from the street. If you submit a request to the Architectural
Review Committee and it gets denied, please call Paragon Property (our
management company) to inquire as to why your project was denied.
It may be as simple as additional information is needed (ex: paint color,
pictures, lot survey). If you are thinking about a project you are invited to
attend the monthly HOA meeting to get any questions answered prior
to submission. If you need a copy of the deed restrictions, please email
copperbrookhoa@gmail.com and we will send you a copy.
SAFETY
Park and Pool Safety:
Parents please accompany all children to the park and pool for their
safety. The playground opens at sunrise and closes at sundown. Please
call 911 if you see any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles. This area is
monitored by surveillance cameras, however as homeowners, we need
to assist the police and play an active role in keeping our community safe!
Neighborhood Safety:
PLEASE lock your doors and remove all valuables so that there is little
temptation and hopefully nothing taken if they do break in your vehicle.
There have also been reports of crimes at the new park (Charles Austin Park)
and so we urge you to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Please
be alert to things such as unknown cars idling, circling the neighborhood,
increased traffic at a particular home and driving slowly as if to stall for time.
If you see this behavior, please call 911 and report the suspicious activity. It
would be helpful if you could provide any of the following information to the
911 operator or sheriff’s department when you call: description of the vehicle,
person(s), time of day and/or license plate number. Please be discrete and
keep in mind safety is priority. Also, if you notice a lot of traffic and multiple
vehicles coming and going from a location please call the sheriff’s office and
inform them of the high traffic volume of that location. It takes a community
effort to keep a community safe. The HOA is cooperating with the local law
enforcement in keeping this a safe community for our families.
Surveillance Cameras:
Surveillance cameras are installed at the pool house. The cameras are
positioned to monitor the pool areas, the park grounds and the parking
lot. HOA Board members have 24-hour access to view the ongoing
activities of these areas. All suspicious activities will be reported to the
Sheriff’s Office immediately.

National Cell Phone Courtesy Month during July encourages us to
evaluate our cellular habits and consider others before we reach for
our phone. Our phones have become an integral part of our lives. We
schedule events organize shopping lists order birthday presents and
communicate all from this one, small device. Do we even make a phone
call any more?
Phone courtesy has always been in fashion, but when they became
smart, it seems we lost a few brain cells. National Cell Phone Courtesy
Month strives to bring polite phone usage back in style.
DOS AND DON’TS
Silent the phone whenever you’re spending time with anyone. That
includes work, a meal, meeting or with family. If you are attending a
performance of any kind, turn the phone off. There are exceptions to this
rule for medical professionals or other expectant emergency situations.
Hidden phones are forgotten phones. We pay attention to the people
in the room, the performance or the meeting. It’s also a signal to the
people we are with that they are important to us.
Step away if you do need to take a call. No one needs to hear your
conversation while trying to enjoy a meal for two.
Shhh. Monitor the volume of your voice. Even when you step away,
voices carry.
Pause before sending emails, texts or social media posts. Consider
the content, especially if it is posted in haste. Ask yourself the following
questions. Sometimes just the need to ask will be all the answer you need
before deleting the comment or text: Will I regret sending this later? Am I
angry? Will this hurt someone? Is this appropriate? Will this affect my job
or relationship?
Don’t use your phone and drive. Many states prohibit cellular use or
limit it to hands-free only. Any message can wait until you arrive at your
destination. If it truly is urgent, pull to a safe stopping area to receive the
message or call.
Don’t let your mobile device become a social hindrance. We often
look to our phone for social engagement when we don’t know what else
to do. Meet new people when you are in a new circle of people and begin
networking with the people near you. Expand your social circle face to
face and broaden the world around you.
Our phones are tools. They shouldn’t replace every social context
in our lives. Practice a little courtesy and gain improved relationships
everywhere you go. Encourage your friends and families to join you
throughout the month.

BOARD APPROVES AMENDED 2020-2021
INSTRUCTIONAL CALENDAR
June 16, 2020—The CFISD Board of Trustees approved the calendar
committee’s recommendation to modify the 2020-2021 instructional
calendar during its regularly scheduled meeting on June 16.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in a loss of 52 instructional
days that comprised 30 percent of the instructional calendar, Texas
Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath suggested school
districts consider modifications to an instructional calendar that:
minimizes disruptions; adjusts for learning loss; provides remediation;
provides dedicated learning time focused on struggling students; helps
minimize the “summer slide;” and includes extra days and weeks for
make-up time due to the potential resurgence of COVID-19.
In response, the calendar committee recommended an amended
calendar that: features the same start date (Aug. 24) and planned
professional days/holidays as previously approved; allots 15 minutes of
additional instructional time for elementary and middle schools and 10
minutes of additional instructional time for high schools, which would
provide for 30 minutes of focused instruction each day for all students;
and reserves makeup dates from June 1-30 due to a potential additional
loss of instruction due to COVID-19.
The amended calendar features 79,200 total instructional minutes, an
increase of 3,600 minutes from the previously approved 2020-2021
calendar—the equivalent of eight additional instructional days being

The 12 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduation ceremonies held at Cy-Fair FCU
Stadium from June 1-6 produced a total of 8,703 graduating seniors for
the Class of 2020. They included the first-ever commencement exercises
for Cypress Park High School, which opened in 2016 with only ninth grade
students and Bridgeland High School, which opened the following year.

the stadium and Berry Center. All individuals were screened upon entry
for signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19 and each graduate was
limited to a maximum of four guests. Graduates were also provided a
mask displaying their respective school logo. In addition, CFISD and Berry
Center personnel sanitized the entire complex following each graduation
ceremony. Each commencement exercise was highlighted by remarks and
addresses from each campus principal and student representatives from
every graduating class. Selected representatives also led the Pledge of
Allegiance and performed the national anthem.
In addition to the nearly 35,000 guests who attended the commencements
at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium, a record number of others watched the graduation
ceremonies through live streaming on the CFISD Live stream account.
The live stream generated 135,574 total views from all 50 states and
Washington D.C. and 154 different countries as of June 7 th . Combined
with more than 23,363 views on the CFISD YouTube page, total streams
amounted to nearly 159,000 views.
The 2019-2020 school year marked the 13 th year for graduation
ceremonies to be streamed live for the public.
RECORD $120,000 RAISED FOR
SUPERINTENDENT’S FUN RUN AND FESTIVAL
Through tremendous generosity, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD staff, students,
community members and business partners came together to raise $120,000
for the seventh annual Superintendent’s Fun Run and Festival. The fundraiser,
originally scheduled for March 21 st at the Berry Center and Cy-Fair FCU Stadium,
was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19. CFISD presented a check of the
record amount to the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) on May 6 th .
In response, numerous CFISD staff members and students and
community members performed their own “virtual” runs or walks on
March 21 st , posting and sharing photos on social media.
Woodard Elementary School was recognized as the top contributing
elementary school, followed by runner-up Andre’ Elementary School and
third place Duryea Elementary School. Woodard was also honored as the
campus with the highest overall participation.
Among middle schools, Hamilton Middle School was the top contributing
campus. It was followed by Arnold Middle School and Smith Middle
School, which placed second and third, respectively.
Cypress Ranch High School was recognized as the top contributing high
school, followed by runner-up Cypress Falls High School and third place
Cy-Fair High School.
CFISD’s School Administration & Leadership Development department
was recognized as the top contributing small department.
Among large departments, the honor went to Curriculum, Instruction
and Accountability, which was also recognized as having the most
members register for the Superintendent’s Century Club (registration
total equaled or exceeded $100).

CFISD NAMES NEW ASSOCIATE
DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS
June 4, 2020—Virginia Flores, assistant principal and former head girls’
basketball coach at Cypress Woods High School, was recently named the
new associate director of athletics. Flores replaces Sharon Farrah, who
retired following a 38-year career in education.
Flores served as the first head girls’ basketball coach at Cypress Woods,
starting the program in 2006. She led the Wildcats to the postseason nine
consecutive years (2009-2017), capturing three district championships
and appearing in two regional tournaments. Her coaching career
culminated in Cypress Woods winning the UIL Class 6A state
championship in 2015.
In 2017, Flores transitioned into educational administration, assuming
her current role.
“We are excited about the addition of Virginia Flores to our CFISD
athletic department team,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD director of athletics.
“Virginia will bring great experience, energy, passion and enthusiasm to
our department in her new role. We will absolutely miss Sharon Farrah,
who served CFISD extensively over her long career. However, we do look
forward to working with Virginia in service of the 17,000 athletes and
more than 600 coaches in CFISD.”
Flores began her career in education in 1999 as an English teacher and
basketball and track coach at Cy-Fair High School. After three years,
Flores moved to Magnolia High School to serve as head girls’ basketball
coach and assistant track coach.
Flores earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas
and Master of Educational Administration from Lamar University.
“I am humbled and beyond thrilled to be in a position where I can serve
and support the amazing teacher-coaches and student-athletes of
CFISD,” Flores said. “Excellence in the sporting arena and in the classroom
are the expectation and thus the norm for our highly competitive district.
All of our coaches continually push and demand the very best and to be
in a position to support them is a dream. While I will miss my 212 Wildcat
family dearly, I am eager to begin working with our CFISD athletic staff
to uphold the traditions and expectations of our district and to continue
setting the bar for excellence.”

BOARD ADOPTS 2020-2021 BUDGET,
PROPOSES TAX RATE DECREASE
June 16, 2020—The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of
Trustees adopted the 2020-2021 budget in the amount of
$1,040,726,671 during its regularly scheduled meeting on
June 16. The proposed budget was presented during the
June 11 committee-of-the-whole meeting.
The general fund budget includes local revenues of
$543,309,479, state revenues of $436,378,083 and federal
revenues and other sources of $21,200,000. CFISD’s total
revenues amount to $1,000,887,562.

The proposed tax rate for 2020-2021 of $1.3578 is a
decrease of 1.22 cents from the 2019-2020 school year,
with the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Tax rate at
$0.9578 and the Interest & Sinking (I&S) Tax rate at $0.40.
The 2020-2021 tax rate is scheduled to be adopted at the
September 2020 board meeting.
CFISD plans to provide raises for all staff for the ninth
consecutive year. The district’s 2020-2021 budget proposal
calls for the following salary increases:
a 1-percent-of-base-salary increase in addition to the
one-time payment from 2019-2020 rolled in for teachers,
counselors, librarians and nurses
a 1-percent-of-midpoint or base salary increase, whichever
is greater, in addition to the one-time payment from 2019-
2020 rolled in, for all other staff; and a new starting salary
of $56,000 for all teachers.
In addition to salary increases, the 2020-2021 budget
proposal provides for full-day prekindergarten, COVID-19
expenses, the opening of Rowe Middle School, new
teachers and paraeducators, benefits, TRS and other
miscellaneous expenses.

JOIN 2020 WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S®​
Participants will Raise Critically Needed Awareness and Funds for
Alzheimer’s Care, Support and Research. ​The Alzheimer’s Association®​
is inviting​Katy, Fulshear, Cypress, Richmond and other West Houston
area ​residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the
Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.​ ​The Walk will take place
on Saturday, September 26, 2020,​​at​​La Centerra Shopping Center
in Katy, Texas. On walk day, participants will honor those affected by
Alzheimer’s disease with Promise Flowers during the poignant Promise
Garden Ceremony - a moving display of hope to represent the personal
reasons participants join together to fight Alzheimer’s.
This year’s challenge is whether we will be able to come together of 1,300
walkers or not. So we have two plans - Plan A is to have the big event. Plan
B is to have a virtual event that may be held in various neighborhoods,
businesses, schools and other smaller communities where people can
come together and Walk to End Alzheimer’s. In addition to the 3-mile
walk, participants will enjoy a fun-filled experience that includes valuable
information, celebrations, entertainment, corporate sponsors and so
much more.

POSTPONED TO NOVEMBER
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cy-Fair Educational Foundation
(CFEF) trustees graded 1200+ scholarship applications and met via Zoom
to award more than $635,000 in scholarships. For Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
graduating seniors planning to attend Lone Star College full-time in the
fall, our application is open now through May 11, 2020. This summer, the
Foundation will award $72,000 from the Edwin C. Schroeder Endowment
Fund. The Foundation looks forward to recognizing our 2020 scholarship
recipients this August.
With the Stay Home - Work Safe Mandate through the end of April, the
Foundation has decided to postpone the B. F. Adam Golf Classic until
the COVID-19 risk is minimal within our community for the safety of our
288 golfers and over 100 volunteers, trustees and staff, who help make
this event a tremendous success, as well as the staff at BlackHorse Golf
Club. Our 33 rd annual B. F. Adam Golf Class has been moved to Monday,
November 16, 2020.
Celebrating 50 years as a non-profit raising money to fund scholarships
for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD high school graduates, the Cy-Fair Educational

Take a ride with us for an exciting week of VBS, July 13 th -17 th ! Registration
costs $30. Our theme this year is Rocky Railway; Jesus’ Power Pulls us
Through. In addition, we’ll be having Armored Sports come in again this
year for after VBS fun!
From 12-4 PM, Armored Sports will run a Bible based sports camp. The
participants will play fun games like dodge ball, kickball, capture the flag,
and games revolving around basketball, soccer and more! The cost in
addition to VBS is $125. Note: Registration for Armored Sports must be
done separately from VBS.
Summer Camps
CAMP CORNERSTONE IS THE PLACE TO BE
Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp sponsored by Cornerstone
United Methodist Church and is for children ages 2 through the
completion of 4th grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2020. Camp
hours are 9:30 AM-1 PM.
There are 2 sessions left for the summer and you are invited to participate
in any or all! Registration open. Session II - “Christmas in July” is July 13-17,
2020; Session III - “Summer Olympics” is August 3-7, 2020. The cost per
camp per child is $125 and is due at the time of registration. To download

Camp Cornerstone. Print the form and have it filled out before you arrive,

Before each camp session begins, you will hear from your child’s teacher

lunch as they enjoy each other and the special things they will do during
