LINKING UP SOURCES AND SUPPLIERS OF PPEDo you produce fabrics for use in healthcare? Or are you looking for masks, medical apronsor similar equipment? There is now a database to bring makers and buyers of such productstogether. The initiative comes from the EU-funded TEX-MED ALLIANCES project,implemented as part of the ENI CBC MED programme.The project was launched to create cross-border alliances among private companies inthe textile sector. It is currently mapping industrial capacities (in Egypt, Greece, Italy,Jordan, Palestine, Spain and Tunisia) for the production of PPE items such as self-filteringmasks and protective gloves.The plan also involves mapping the differentactors according to what they do best. ‘Ourregions hold expertise in different things,’say Monica Olmos, project manager. ‘A solutioncould come from combining the resources:for example, to produce filteringmasks in Tunisia using textiles manufacturedin Spain or Italy.’http://www.enicbcmed.eu/projects/tex-med-alliancesJOINING FORCES IN THE NORTHWhen nearly all of Europe suddenly found itself inlockdown, a group of experts from the Northern Peripheryand Arctic Programme (NPA) area decided towork together to better understand what could bedone to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.The NPA COVID-19 response group is an informalgroup of experts who have either participated in orled an NPP or NPA e-health project. The group quicklygathered 40 interested health experts (clinicians,health service managers and digital technologyexperts) from seven countries in the NPA area. This hospital, based in theGreater Region spanning Germany,Belgium, France and Luxembourg,is a beneficiary of several EU-supportedInterreg cross-bordercooperation projects, such asSANTRANSFOR and COSAN.The Luxembourg Hospital Federation,which currently counts10 Luxembourg-based hospitalsand specialised clinics, mobilisedits members to receive patientsfrom France and the GreaterRegion. The Cerdanya hospital,situated on the border betweenSpain and France, treated COVID-19 patients from both countries.9
