Approx. 20 population(2016 census). A few kilometres SW of the Hamlet and 35km south of Provost is an archeological dig site appropriatelynamed the Bodo Archaeology Centre. It is oneof the largest and most well-preserved pre-contactarchaeological areas in Western Canada.The site is large (approx. 200 hectares) and particularlyrich complex of archaeological resources thatexhibit evidence of multiple periods of human activityand habitation dating back as early as 5,000 years ago.The site also includes evidence for the continued useover the last 500 years of a “bison pound” where hundredsof bison were corralled and killed at one time,which provides invaluable insight to ancient huntingand butchering strategies.At Bodo, you have the unique opportunity to takepart in the ongoing archaeological excavation at thisimportant locale and to contribute to the discovery ofAlberta’s exciting past.No services.The Diplomat Mine Museumis located on Hwy 855just north ofBig Knife Provincial Park.Home to the Marion 360, the world’s largest mobile land machine in 1927and the Bucyrus-Erie 120-B shovel, used for loading coal.
