I found it difficultto contact agencies and get feedback. Itwas a slow process.Why did you decide to attend the MKJob Show?As I had been working abroad for 5 years,I found it difficult to get in touch withemployers and explain my skillset and whatrelevant qualifications I had. I felt it wasnecessary to talk to someone face to faceand go through my CV so they knew myexperiences and what I could offer as anemployee.What attracted you to your currentemployer and what do you likeabout working for them?Kids Play team were very welcoming andhad a friendly approach. They offered methe flexibility that I need for a work lifebalance and thrive themselves on employeewelfare and well-being.What would you say to a Job Seekerconsidering attending the MK JobShow?I would say it’s definitely worth attending.Having lots of industries and employersunder one roof is a great opportunity foryou to get a feel of what suits you best. Aswell as ask questions to potential employers,which normally you wouldn’t get a chanceto do. You can also browse and queryvarious roles that may be of interest to you.It’s a great opportunity to put yourself outthere!Did you experience any challengeswith your job search, prior toattending the MK Job Show?Although I was actively seeking full timeemployment, I hadn’t seriously sat downand looked for a job before attending theMK Job Show. I had visited a few job sitesbut didn’t know what role I was looking foror what job I would be best suited for.Why did you decide to attend the MKJob Show?We had just moved to Milton Keynes fromSouth Africa and my parents had seen theadvertising for the MK Job Show in thearea. They suggested my brother and Iattend so we could hopefully find full timeroles and pick up a few brochures to seewhat was out there.What attracted you to your currentemployer and what do you likeabout working for them?Dawsongroup was the last stand I visitedbefore leaving the MK Job Show. Theywork in the same industry as my dad andwere advertising HR roles which interestedme. My role was not advertisedon Milton Keynes Hospital website at thetime, so I was not expecting to be offered ajob interview, however as it was becomingavailable soon they were happy to offer mean interview.What position were you hired for atthe event?Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapist at MiltonKeynes University Hospital NHS.What attracted you to your currentemployer and what do you likeabout working for them?Milton Keynes Hospital offer plentyof support, supervision and share ofknowledge for newly qualified therapists.I enjoy being part of a multidisciplinaryteam that works closely together towardsachieving best patient outcomes. Thereis always someone there to offer supportwhen needed.What would you say to a Job Seekerconsidering attending the MK JobShow?Enjoy it! You never know what jobs are onoffer that you probably did not know aboutfrom careers websites. I think the face toface contact with potential employers canmake a real difference in getting a job offer.Jacob Provan,Engineering ApprenticeLockheed MartinDid you experience any challengeswith your job search, prior toattending the MK Job Show?Finding an engineering role wasn’t anissue, I’m passionate about engineeringand I’d had several offers from differentcompanies, but it was Lockheed Martinthat I really wanted to kickstart my careerwith. I’d heard about all the great careeropportunities and benefits a job atLockheed came with – this was alwaysthe only career choice for me, and I wasdetermined to make it happen – it wasthrough the MK Job Show that I finallysecured the apprenticeship of my dreams!Why did you decide to attend the MKJob Show?My auntie showed me an article for the MKJob Show which said Lockheed Martin washiring and will be at the Show. I knew thiswas my opportunity to go and get in frontof the hiring managers and make a lastingimpression – and here I am today, part ofthe Lockheed Martin family!What position were you hired for atthe event?Engineering Apprentice.What attracted you to your currentemployer and what do you likeabout working for them?It has been my dream to work forLockheed Martin since I was 16. As it is anorganisation that is pushing the boundariesof science and innovation to the extreme. Aglobal leader with a formidable reputationfor defence and future technology. I loveworking at Lockheed Martin because Iam constantly learning and being givenopportunities to do better by those aroundme. I work with a great set of talentedpeople that are passionate about whatthey do, it’s a great environment to workand thrive in.What would you say to a Job Seekerconsidering attending the MK JobShow?From my experience anything is possible.If you have a dream that is bigger thananything that’s holding you back, thenkeep moving forward and keep believingin yourself. Attending the MK Job Showgave me my big break and it could do thesame for others too.
