ROGER FEDERER AND ON LAUNCH
‘THE ROGER’
Swiss performance running brand
On have released their latest training
shoe, The Roger Centre Court 0-Series.
The release of the tennis inspired trainer
follows the announcement last year of
the tennis great, Roger Federer, joining
the On team and is the first product On
has created together with Federer.
Roger and On set out to re-invent the
classic tennis sneaker with latest comfort
technology. It’s a radical departure from
how most tennis sneakers are still built
with heavy rubber soles. ‘The minimalist
design and easy comfort of On’s shoes
had me hooked years ago. I wanted to
infuse the tennis sneaker with the same
lightness, comfort and agility for every
day,’ comments Federer.
The Roger sneaker features On’s
award-winning CloudTec® sole that
feels exceptionally light and adds On’s
hidden secret – the Speedboard® – for
agile movement. An ultra-soft sock
construction delivers distraction free
comfort and ventilation. ‘I love working
with the On team, using my knowledge
of performance footwear and personal
interest in fashion to contribute to
product development. I’m proud to be a
part of the creation of The Roger, which
is the most comfortable tennis-inspired
sneaker you will ever wear,’ says the
tennis legend.
On and Roger have their homes and
hearts in the Swiss mountains. ‘We love
to explore and aspire to protect the
incredible natural beauty that surrounds
us, hence this new generation of tennis
inspired sneakers has been created with
sustainability in mind’ comments On
Co-Founder David Allemann. The Roger
is crafted from vegan leather and has
been designed for lightness to reduce
material consumption. The result is a
significantly smaller environmental
footprint for this tennis-inspired sneaker.
The vegan leather has approximately
30% of the footprint of animal leather.
VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON
2020 UPDATE
The Virgin Money London Marathon
have given the latest update on the race
this year, scheduled for 4 October. They
are currently looking at innovative ways
to stage the race, and are hopeful that
they will be able to move ahead the with
the new date.
Event Director, Hugh Brasher, said:
‘Just over 40 years ago, on 26 October
1979, my father Chris Brasher, the
co-founder of the London Marathon,
started his column in The Observer with
these words: ‘To believe this story, you
must believe that the human race can be
one joyous family working together,
laughing together, achieving the
impossible...’
‘From those words, the first London
Marathon was born. While some may
think what we are trying to do on
Sunday 4 October is impossible, we will
not give up hope. The 40th Race should
be a day that shows the best of
humanity. A togetherness, a joy and a
celebration of everything we treasure.’
