His Majesty’s aim is to encourage
the local youth to be dynamic
and responsible citizens, as the
immediate future of Brunei is
very much in their hands: “Our
youth is the sustainers of all
Government policies. Brunei
Darussalam needs youths who are
disciplined, resilient, independent,
responsible and loyal to the nation
and love their religion.” Through
His Majesty’s effort, the United
Nations Development Programme
has ranked Brunei Darussalam 30th
in the ‘High Human Development’
category, with Brunei Darussalam’s
literacy rate at 98 per cent – among
the highest in the world.
MUHIBAH
Philanthropy is ever one of His Majesty’s characteristics. In his
travels abroad, His Majesty often shows support for organisations
that refl ect issues he cares about. His Majesty understands that as
head of state, an important aspect of the work of a statesman is to
support and encourage public and voluntary charitable work. His
Majesty is all too aware of how easy it is for society to forget the less
fortunate, and to this end, continues to tirelessly champion various
charitable works and organisations, devoting his strength, wisdom,
time and fi nancial support for the development of the country and
assistance to the underprivileged.
15 July, 2012 marks His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan
and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 66th birthday celebration. It is indeed a joyous
occasion celebrated throughout Brunei Darussalam with special events held in conjunction in
Brunei-Muara, Tutong, Belait and Temburong Districts.
