WELCOME!
Welcome to the 2020 Toronto Summer Music Festival — our first-ever
online festival, made possible thanks to the generous support of you: our
donors, sponsors, and TSM family and community members.
Since the cancellation of our in-person Beethoven Unleashed festival, we have
been overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity in our community and in
the arts sector that has allowed us to continue to support artists and offer you
high-quality classical chamber music in this, our 15th anniversary season.
Presenting an online festival of this kind has been a logistical challenge, but
an exciting one—as we navigate this new reality, my hope is that we all take
a moment to pause and appreciate the sheer resilience of our artists and the
beauty of their craft. When the time comes for us to gather together again as
a community, we will remember that music helped us through this time.
So, I invite you to raise a glass and celebrate with us, as we showcase internationally-renowned
artists, including James Ehnes, the Dover Quartet,
Colin Carr, and Ema Nikolovska, as well as the local talents of VC2 Cello Duo,
Ladom Ensemble, and CBC’s Tom Allen. And of course, a TSM Festival would
not be complete without our beloved Academy Fellows, the best young
artists of their generation. I feel very lucky to be able to celebrate our 15th
year in such a special way. Cheers!
With best wishes,
Jonathan Crow

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR
I am delighted to welcome you to the 2020 Toronto Summer Music Festival
and am thrilled that you could join us at our first ever “virtual” Festival.
Undaunted by the challenges of our current circumstances, our Artistic
Director, Jonathan Crow, has planned a stellar line-up of international and
homegrown talent, as well as performances by our Academy Fellows. While
we will not be together in person, I know that we will be joined together in
spirit through our love and support for TSM and the music that it brings to
us to share.
We could not have put on this Festival without the generosity of our TSM
family and friends. The support we have received from you has been
outstanding and has allowed us to bring you this Online Festival. I very
much look forward to the time when we can be together in person and share
the TSM experience. Until then, please stay safe, and enjoy the music!

Or just old-fashioned ego and pride? With music, song, drama, history
and informed speculation, The Missing Pages investigates.
