planned. In the <strong>at</strong>tic of their house, the boy<br />

had found a faded <strong>Yellowstone</strong> trail map<br />

scribbled with notes, lines, and markings th<strong>at</strong><br />

obviously belonged to his gre<strong>at</strong>-gre<strong>at</strong>grandf<strong>at</strong>her<br />

James. <strong>The</strong>re was a note <strong>at</strong>tached<br />

to the front th<strong>at</strong> read:<br />

If you have this map, then<br />

I am no longer hiking this earth.<br />

To you, I leave clues to<br />

something more valuable than gold;<br />

More precious than gems; a<br />

treasure of a lifetime.<br />

Its owner will only profit<br />

from its riches!<br />

Gunny had the map and the note hidden<br />

in his backpack (his f<strong>at</strong>her jokingly referred to<br />

it as his “Gunny Sack”). He didn’t want to tell<br />
