Movement is expression. It is the very definition <strong>of</strong> life. When it is done with passion,<br />
whether it be on the ice rink, expressed in the flow <strong>of</strong> fabric on the fashion runway and<br />
Hollywood Red Carpet, or the stroke <strong>of</strong> a paint brush, it is the greatest form <strong>of</strong> fulfillment.<br />

One need only see the Tango, Or hear the music <strong>of</strong><br />
Astor Piazola and Mercedes Sosa to understand<br />
that one <strong>of</strong> Argentina’s best known exports is<br />
passion.. It simply brings meaning and beauty to all<br />
<strong>of</strong> our lives.<br />
Argentinian passion is just the tip <strong>of</strong> the iceberg <strong>of</strong><br />
the creative force that is <strong>Alex</strong> <strong>Vinash</strong>. It can best be<br />
described as embracing the ideals embodied by the<br />
swan: power, grace and beauty <strong>of</strong> movement.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se ideals pervade his work, whether it is figure<br />
skating, fashion design or painting. <strong>The</strong>se works<br />
become all the more impressive when you<br />
understand that <strong>Vinash</strong> is self-taught. He sees<br />
something, wonders what it would be like to be able<br />
to do it, teaches himself and then ultimately shows<br />
us how it is done with beauty and grace. That is a<br />
creative force that knows no bounds.<br />
Though showing promise as a painter during<br />
childhood, the first worldwide impact <strong>Alex</strong> made was<br />
as a figure skater. After winning the national<br />
championship in Argentina, he was invited on a<br />
three month tour <strong>of</strong> Europe. He stayed sixteen<br />
years, competing and performing to broad acclaim<br />
across the continent.<br />
After so many years on the ice, he realized that<br />
much <strong>of</strong> the experience <strong>of</strong> figure skating was<br />
dependent upon the costumes—the right costume<br />
intensified the perception <strong>of</strong> the movement he so<br />
sought to express. Instead <strong>of</strong> waiting for others to fill<br />
the need, he answered the call himself. And the<br />
fashion world was rocked when <strong>Alex</strong> <strong>Vinash</strong> picked<br />
up a needle.<br />
While living in Barcelona producing his line <strong>of</strong><br />
skating costumes, he was discovered by Vanity Fair<br />
and was invited to New York City for Fashion Weektwo<br />
suitcases packed for two weeks. Haute<br />
Couture would never be the same again. Six years<br />
later, <strong>Alex</strong> is still thriving in New York---and after<br />
eight Fashion Week appearances around the US,<br />
being featured on over 30 magazine covers, he has<br />
become the go-to designer for celebrities.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> <strong>Vinash</strong>’s most lauded works was the suit he<br />
designed for actor Billy Porter for his appearance at<br />
the 2020 Golden Globes. Inspired, naturally, by the<br />
Swan, Billy Porter dominated the Red Carpet, and<br />
<strong>Alex</strong>’s talent was celebrated in the New York Times,<br />
New Yorker, New York Magazine, Washington Post,<br />
Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Argentinian passion is<br />
once again duly recognized for the joy it brings us.<br />
Amid all <strong>of</strong> the notoriety, <strong>Alex</strong> has rediscovered his<br />
original passion for painting. In this latest version <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Alex</strong> (<strong>Alex</strong> 4.0) he has managed to capture the<br />
sensation <strong>of</strong> motion in his paintings. As abstracts,<br />
they are all akin to the image <strong>of</strong> the swan taking<br />
flight-power, grace, and beauty <strong>of</strong> movement.<br />
<strong>Alex</strong> says his experiences around the globe have<br />
led to his becoming fluent in five languages. After<br />
viewing his work in this catalog, one can only reach<br />
the conclusion that it is actually six languages—the<br />
sixth being the one <strong>of</strong> motion he so eloquently <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
to us and requires no dictionary to understand.
