lists <strong>of</strong> stores, a few sketches, plans <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> starvation camp. Three pages written by<br />

<strong>Stanley</strong> and signed by him (Your friend Henry M. <strong>Stanley</strong>) containing instructions<br />

musical instruments, landscapes, etc.<br />

Composite journal in a chronicle style <strong>of</strong> some periods <strong>of</strong> <strong>Stanley</strong>’s life, roughly<br />

speaking: 28 January 1841 - July 1857, 8 February 1861 - 13 November 1874 and 9<br />

August 1877 - 15 August 1879; brief preliminary notes in Swahili (2 pp.) on <strong>Stanley</strong>’s<br />

early life from his birth. Entries apparently transcribed at a later date (1893?) from<br />

earlier journals now lost<br />
