UrbEd organized and hosteda free screening of Just Mercyfor Philadelphia high schoolstudents across the city.UrbEd hosted a free screening and postscreeningpanel for over 90 students. The panelallowed students to have an out of classroomeducational experience. The post-screeningpanel included Joanna E. McClinton, PA StateRepresentative; Kendra Brooks, PhiladelphiaCouncilmember; Keir Bradford-Grey, Office ofthe District Attorney; Community Relations G.Lamar Stewart, Director for the PhiladelphiaDistricts Attorney and Tyler Wims, Director ofStudent Leadership.
UrbEd Partners with StuVoiceat Global Minds Initiative.The Global Minds Initiative conferenceconsisted of a group of young people fromhigh schools across Pittsburgh that are fightingfor change within the Pittsburgh area. GlobalMinds is an organization that was createdentirely by high school students. In partnershipwith StuVoice we were able to go to Pittsburghto give students tips on how they can empowerother students in their area to join them increating change.UrbEd joined the EducationJustice Collective in the MoveSchools Forward nationalmovement.UrbEd is a member of the Ed Justice Collectivewhich supports the Move Schools Forwardinitiative. Move Schools forward works toensure that as schools consider reopeningin the fall, that we demand a future in theeducation system that ensures that studentsare on the front lines when it comes to makingdecisions about their education. UrbEdhelped craft the guiding principles for thismovement and has taken part in 30 days ofAction, to involve students to be active in theircommunities.
