DID YOU KNOW...
In 1910. American engineer Nathaniel Baldwin developed
a model of headphones consisting of two sound receivers,
each of which contained a coil of copper wires, attached
to the headband on the operator's head and hidden in
a leather strap. At that time, it was such a perfect model that
the military ordered 100 pieces from Baldwin, although he
could deliver headphones in small batches, produced on
the kitchen table. If the stories are to be believed, his invention
was born in a flash, and the inventor himself did not attach
much importance to it at first. He didn't take care to patent it.
He also refused when the Navy wanted to move production
from a kitchen in Utah to a much larger facility on the East
Coast. This was due to Baldwin's matrimonial problems - he
was a polygamist and could not leave Utah. As a result,
someone else took care of the production.
