<strong>Annual</strong> Fund & Campaign for Kids
June 2008<br />
Dear Friends:<br />
This past year, the <strong>Museum</strong> reached the homestretch of its capital expansion. Since construction on the new building<br />
began in 2004, the <strong>Museum</strong> remained open to the public with a full array of programs and a steadily increasing<br />
number of school group and family visits. However, in order to begin the monumental task of installing the new<br />
exhibits, taking down old exhibits, and renovating the existing building, the <strong>Museum</strong> closed its doors to the public in<br />
September 2007 and will reopen in September 2008.<br />
During this period, the <strong>Museum</strong> offered <strong>Brooklyn</strong> Children’s <strong>Museum</strong> On-the-Go – a wide range of programming<br />
and events at off-site locations in schools, libraries, and local cultural institutions and community organizations.<br />
<strong>Brooklyn</strong> Children’s <strong>Museum</strong> On-the-Go successfully kept up our services and educational impact while we prepared<br />
for reopening. Between September 2007 and March 2008, On-the-Go outreach programs and partnerships<br />
served over 35,000 people in neighborhoods throughout <strong>Brooklyn</strong>.<br />
As we reach the final stages of the expansion, we look forward to unveiling the “new” <strong>Brooklyn</strong> Children’s <strong>Museum</strong><br />
to the world and reopening our doors to the children and families of <strong>Brooklyn</strong> and beyond.<br />
