The 2018 Carrizozo Artists Studio Tour will hold their annual

art tour on Friday and Saturday, August 18 & 19, 2018.

The tour opens the courtyards and homes of some of the

most private professional and aspiring creatives in the state.

Works vary from illustration to pottery to woven copper

to tile, raku, sculpture and sewing, porcelain and painting.

What binds them are the colors, light, forms and quirkiness

particular to this remote place. carrizozoworks.org

The Questa Studio Arts Tour will be the first of the tours in

northern New Mexico. August 18 & 19 mark the weekend that

more than 30 artists and craftspeople will be available at their

studios, at one of a number of art hubs (6-8 artists at one location)

or in an art destination, to show their work. Questa is

unique in that there exists both traditional and contemporary

artworks made by both members of older families and newly

transplanted artists. This is “Where Artistic Traditions Meet”.

The Questa Studio Arts Tour is a project of the Questa Creative

Council, a newly formed non-profit that has been organized to

promote and sustain the creative arts and crafts, culture and history

of Questa and the surrounding area.

Questa is one of the older communities in New Mexico, and is

populated by descendants of the original land grant families. It

is a beautiful area, nestled against the Sangre de Christo mountains

and located between the Rio Grande National Monument

and the Carson National Forest. Hiking, fishing, picture-taking,

quaint villages and an historic church are among the many

activities that await the visitor. Questa is located on the scenic

Enchanted Circle byway, along with Taos, Angel Fire and Red

River.
