★ Hoover Dam. . . the landmark bull. The lead-off bull in the 2012
ORIgen sire directory, Hoover Dam’s early usage has earned him
the “Rock Solid A.I. Proven” designation by ABS, with .93 accuracy!
Hoover Dam was one of only 26 sires in the Angus breed that
recorded over 1000 registered progeny in 2011!
★ If you want low birth, high docility, and heavy muscle, there is NO
BULL in America that can meet or exceed the combination of
Hoover Dam’s BW, Docility, and Ribeye EPDs!
★ Hoover Dam is one of the most frequently visited bulls at ORIgen
– yes, he is as thick as everyone says! His Ribeye EPD far
surpassing the top 1% of the breed is proof his muscling is real.
He has the 19 th highest Ribeye EPD of any sire in the breed! It is
rare to nd a calving ease, high $Beef bull with such power, eye
appeal, and thickness.
★ Hoover Dam was the $47,500 record selling bull in the 84-year
history of Hoover Angus Farm.
★ Hoover Dam has the 5 th highest Docility EPD in the Angus breed
among current Angus sires!
★ Hoover Dam’s dam, C124, is a “beef” cow – she offers that
thickness and mass you would expect. She has an impeccable
record of 5-97 BWR, 5-113 WR, 5-108 YR, 5-106 IMF ratio, 5-107
ribeye ratio, 5-94 rib fat ratio, and 5-87 rump fat ratio. Her Ribeye
EPD is way above the top 1% of current dams.
★ Even more encouraging are the strengths of Statesman’s daughters
with an average 104 WR on over 130 progeny!
★ Statesman exempli es the traits combined in the $Weaned Calf
Value Index ($W) easily placing him among the breed’s best 1-2%
for $W!
★ Statesman and his progeny are very easy eshing. He is moderate
framed, but has meat, muscle and eye appeal. He is a structurally
sound bull with a large scrotal.
★ Statesman’s dam scanned a 139 IMF ratio and 113 Ribeye ratio.
His grandam has 19 at 102 IMF and 19 at 103 Ribeye ratio.
Gridiron Son
★ Gridiron earned elite Path nder honors in the 2010 & 2011
Path nder Reports!
★ Gridiron progeny stand out for their superior conformation and
structural soundness. Gridiron is 10 years old and still sees natural
service.
★ Cattlemen appreciate the natural thickness and muscle Gridiron
puts in his progeny. His daughters are feminine and have become
top producing cows at Hoover Angus. A Gridiron daughter
produced the top selling bull ever to leave the farm at $47,500 –
Hoover Dam, and the top selling female ever to leave the farm at
$50,000 (Hoover Dame). Hoover Dam and Hoover Dame’s mother
sold ½ interest for $45,000 to Craigmore Farm in Ontario. There
will be many Gridiron sons and daughters in our February 7, 2012
production sale.
★ Gridiron now records over 3100 progeny in over 400 herds. He is
a dominant force for WW, YW, and Ribeye EPDs. Combine this
with his high $Weaned Calf Value, and he is a logical choice for
ranchers who sell their calves by the pound and retain replacement
females. Gridiron has the 26 th top $YG Value of all current sires in
the Angus breed at +14.89 in the spring 2012 NCE. This proves he
will add lean muscle growth to his progeny.
★ Gridiron’s dam is a $30,000 Whitestone Foundation donor still in
production today.
Maternal Brother to Acceleration
Sells February 7, 2012 as lot 35
Hoover CC&7 J24
$14,000 Maternal Brother
to Acceleration
★ “Acceleration” is so named because of his low birth weight to high
weaning weight spread. His calves have done just this – calves
averaged a 99 birth weight ratio and a 102 wean ratio in 8 herds!
This dropped his BW EPD and increased his WW EPD!
★ Acceleration has a hard-to- nd EPD package with tremendous
EPDs in 3 economically important (but distinctly different) areas:
Growth (WW & YW EPDs), Maternal ($Weaned Calf Value), and
Calving Ease (BW, CED & CEM).
★ Every animal in the bottom half of Acceleration’s pedigree is a
Path nder! He has more Path nders than any other Hoover herd
sire, and more than most of the Angus breed’s top sires.
★ Dam X78 records 10-95 birth weight ratio, 10-109 wean ratio, and
9-106 yearling ratio. She maintains a 361 day calving interval. She
is an easy eshing, more moderate framed 377 daughter with a
superb udder. If I were to pick out the top 10 cows of the herd each
year, she would certainly be in those 10. . . every year. Her 2008
heifer calf, and full sister to Acceleration, was the 10 th heaviest
weaning weight heifer calf of the crop. X78’s fth feature son was
purchased for $14,000 by Paul’s Livestock of Edwall, WA.
★ Grandam S78 records 12-94 BWR, 12-103 WR, 11-102 YR, with a
364 day calving interval. Her sons average a 15.1” ribeye.
