Exxon Chemical presents distribution awards
Exxon Chemical Americas has honored
seven companies--including a
Houston-based firm--for excellence
in distribution.
Alamo Barge Lines of Houston received
one of Exxon’s Outstanding
Distribution Service Suppliers awards
in the marine and inland category.
Alamo was purchased by Hollywood
Marine at the end of 1985.
Other awards recipients and their
categories included Overseas Enterprises,
Inc., marine and ocean division;
KCS-L&A Railways, rail; International-Matex
Tank Terminals,
Bayonne, tank terminals; Linden Bulk
Transportation Co., bulk truck; Dart
Exxon Chemical has presented the
awards for eight years to honor distributors
for consistent and prompt
service, regulatory and administrative
compliance, safety performance and
emergency response capabilities.
Alamo Barge Lines, Inc., was honored by Exxon Chemical Americas for outstanding distribution
service. Bruce Gustin, left, manager of marine transportation for Exxon Chemical, presents
the award to Ed Smith, center, president of Alamo, and Alamo executive vice president Mike
Molloy.
The ’time Shippers’
is money’
problem
solution
Ship owners must get in port fast.
And get out faster.
Waiting for a deep water berth to
free up delays turn-around time.
Waiting for leased equipment to
arrive throws schedules further
behind.
Waiting for manpower to load or
unload cargo causes further delays.
Delays that cost money.
Shlppem Stevedoring Company:
Houston, Texas.
Fastest turnaround in the Port of
Houston. Booking a berth at our
private terminal guarantees its
availability on arrival. The berths
are deep -- any ship that can navigate
the Houston ship channel has
no concern about draft restrictions.
We own all our equipment, so its
always on hand, with 24 hour
stevedoring service, under the
watchful eye of dockside superintendents.
Superior equipment and
experienced management, round
the clock to ensure fast turn-around.
So what are you waiting for?
YOU DON’T HAVE
TO KNOW ALL
ABOUT EXPORT SERVICES...
¯ .. BUT IT HELPS TO KNOW
WHO DOES.
"This HAS to be in
by the third of the month."
Fill in the blank. It doesn’t matter
whether its Seattle or Singapore.
Shipping ANYWHERE can
be a challenge. Especially if
shipping is only part of your
job responsibilities. Coast-tocoast
or country- to-country
when it has to be there it has
to be there.
"If this shipment is damaged
when it gets there we won’t be able
to get another ready for at least
a month."
You know that regardless of what
your freight is, it has to get where
it is going in good condition. It
doesn’t matter whether it’s as big as
a drilling rig or as
small as a box of
computer chips.
If it can’t be
used when it gets
there it’s no good
to anybody.
"I don’t care if they have to use
a wheelbarrow. Get this part
there... NOW!"
Above all it has to be there on time.
Sometimes regardless of cost or the
method used to get it there. In fact,
just knowing what transportation
methods are available can be a
challenge in itself.
"I don’t want any surprises on
the invoice like extra ’fees’ and
’special charges’."
Cost MAY BE, and often IS, a
factor. If so, you sure don’t want
surprises when you get the invoice.
After all, when you give specific
weights and dimensions you deserve
a specific price.
It doesn’t matter
whether the amount
is a hundred dollars
over the quote.
It’s more than you
expected to pay.
What’s a shipper
supposed to do
when he gets an assignment like
one of these? The answer for many
has been a call to Lawrence Export
Services, Inc.
You know how time-consumir
it can be learning all aspects of the
distribution business. Like packing
crating, transportation and warehousing,
not to mention document~
tion and computer tracking. And
finding dependable packers, trucking
or export service companies ca:
be confusing, too.
But why do YOU need to kno
everything about export services?
Call a company that makes it its
business to know everything about
the business.
Lawrence Export Services,
Inc. has brought all these services
together under one corporate roof.
intrastate and interstate distribution services
The result is a company, with a
strong financial base, that shippers
can turn to for answers to all warehousing,
packing, crating, transpo
tation and documentation services.
You don’t have to know all
about export services. Just know
who knows.
NOW YOU KNOW WHO KNOWS.
