The<strong>2020</strong>ScotchCollege<strong>Dance</strong>Captains<br />
Thisyear,Iwasgratefultobeabletointroducemyfirstinitiativeofthenominationsboxesbeforeschoolwent<br />
online.Thenominationsboxgavestudentstheopportunitytorecogniseeachother’sachievementswithinthe<br />
dancecommunity.IhavelovedtakingpartintheMondaynightJazzclassandWednesdaynightContemporary<br />
classastheyhaveprovidedsomuchenjoymentandarelieffromthestressesofyear12.<br />
WhenthedanceprogrammovedonlinetoTheHub,theonlineclassesweretheperfectopportunitytokeep<br />
activeandbringdancerightbacktothefoundations-focusingontechnique.WatchingtheSACEstudentsrecord<br />
theirdancefilmhighlightedthesenseofcommunitywehavewithintheScotchdanceprogram.<br />
IamgratefultohavehadtheopportunitytobedancecaptainalongsideHarryandithasbeenamazingseeing<br />
theperseveranceoftheStage2’sthisyear.Iwishallthebesttothe2021dancecaptains.<br />

Myfavouritethingaboutthedanceprogramisthatit<br />
doesnotmatterifyouareanewdancertrying<br />
somethingforthefirsttimeorifyou’vebeendancing<br />
yourwholelife,thesupportwithinthedance<br />
communityisamazing.Friendshipsareformedacross<br />
yearlevelsandIbelieveitisthissenseofcommunity<br />
thatdrawspeopletothedanceprogramatScotch.My<br />
favouritedanceI’veeverperformedinwouldhaveto<br />
betheBeyoncéjazzchoreographedbyLaura.The<br />
challengingintricacyofthemovementsmeantthata<br />
lotofhardworkwasputintothedance,butthefinal<br />
performancewasworthit.<br />

AfterjoiningScotch’sdanceinandoutofschool<br />
program,Iwasabletoexpandmyskillsasadancer<br />
andperformerbybranchingoutintodifferentgenres.<br />
ForthefouryearsIhavebeeninvolvedinScotch<br />
<strong>Dance</strong>Ihavebeenabletofosterskillsandfriendships<br />
thatIcould’vefoundatnootherschool.This<br />
alongsidebeingelectedoneofthe<strong>2020</strong>dance<br />
captainshassupportedmypositivedancecareerasa<br />
maleperformer.MyfavouritedanceI’vebeenapartof<br />
atScotchistheDuckandcoverroutineinyear8,asI<br />
recallgreatmemorieswhenlearningandstructuring<br />
thepiece.<br />
