WelcomeWelcome to the Winchester Hub2019-20 Impact Report, anopportunity to showcase andcelebrate our students and theirfantastic work within our localcommunity, while providing aspace to reflect on the futuredirection of Winchester Hub.This year, Winchester Hub hasseen change and growth at anunprecedented pace. We havebeen able to pilot our successfulSocial Innovation Programme(SIP) which saw students cometogether to help localorganisations find innovativesolutions to complex problems. Aprogramme that came into its ownduring the COVID-19 pandemic.We also saw our long-termvolunteering projects LinkAges,Schools Plus, and Woolly Matterspartner with new members in ourcommunity and Youth Theatrereach even more young people.Further, we saw the funding andgeneration of 3 new socialenterprise ideas from WinchesterUniversity students.Our student committee continuedto show their passion and hardwork, running training sessionsand adapting events to new onlineformats in light of lockdown.Importantly, they carried out theirroles with wellbeing at theforefront, making consciousefforts to check in with each otherand create a supportiveenvironment where all volunteerscan thrive.Now, more than ever, the supportthat our volunteers and staff haveextended to our community, andthe extent to which we have alladapted to change, has shownthe importance of social actionand compassion in flourishingtogether.Why is this important?At Winchester Hub, we believethat students have the power andpotential to shape a better world.Through connecting them tosocial action opportunities while atUniversity, they have theopportunity to foster a passion forsocial action that will lead to thembeing active citizens for life.We provide long-termvolunteering, skilled placements,and incubation work for studentsto get involved in. Not only doesthis help the students but also ourlocal communities, creating adouble benefit where both cangenerate positive change.Winchester Hub is a branch of Student Hubs, a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1122328.
