What is the advantage of a hydraulic expansion chuck?

If you have to change often (daily) the change is very comfortable and easy. In

addition, the oil damping in the chuck protects the spindle of the CNC machine. The

concentricity accuracies are in the range of 0.004mm. The harder the material that is

milled, the more advantageous the damping is for the life of the tools. With soft

materials that are milled on CNC machines, the holder plays a subordinate role. The

vibration amplitude that occurs when the tool enters the mold is dampened more

quickly.

Does a thermal lining also have cushioning?

Yes, it mainly dampens with the mass of the holder.

What else can you say about hydraulic expansion chucks?

The tolerances of the shaft should be at least small h7, better be small h6, with

diameters that are too small and tolerances too high, the chuck can be damaged.

Because then the membrane is overstretched.

Anyone who uses constantly changing suppliers and different diameter tolerances is

better served with collets. These are less sensitive to shaft tolerance.

How is the balance and what is its significance?

This drill chuck is balanced to 2.5 g at 24,000 rotations.

The better the chuck is balanced, the less the shift in the center of gravity at high

speeds. A finely balanced tool or drill chuck generates fewer vibrations and runs

more smoothly.

One speaks of an unbalanced drill chuck when an additional mass creates an

irregular mass distribution at a distance from the center. This mass distribution is

evened out by making balancing bores.

About the concentricity of the drill chuck

The concentricity of the chuck is approx. 0.02mm. The advantage of a 3-jaw chuck is

the high level of accuracy, although the holder is adjustable.

The advantage is the 3 jaw clamping in the chuck, with 3 supports the position of the

Alternatives to the 3 jaw chuck

For holding tools with cylindrical shank

The use of reducing sleeves with hydraulic expansion chucks has two effects. For the

additional tolerance of the reducing sleeve, more pressure is required to overcome

the tolerance play. A very positive effect is achieved by using slotted reducing

sleeves. The surface pressure on the outside diameter is increased on the inside

diameter. The greater the reduction, the greater this effect.

These two effects give the end result. For example, the torque for size 20 h6 with 260

Nm is reduced with a reduction from 25/20 to 235 Nm, so that the negative tolerance

effect due to the small reduction is greater than that

Reinforcement of elasticity. Reduced from 32/20, the reinforcement effect is greater

5 axis tools for CNC machining

Different tools are used depending on the application. This section only shows tools

that are actually used by our customers in the CNC 5-

Axis operation can be used.

5-axis tools are not simply the same tools as in 4-axis machining.

Why?

The milling head on a 5-axis machine often has a greater distance and thus longer

lever to the compound slide (the compound slide takes the Z-axis and X-axis on

Why should you pay attention

to how you use it when choosing

a face milling cutter?

Here is the explanation:

When we talk about 5-axis

machining, we don't mean milling

for 2 hours and reworking for

3 hours, but rather the workpieces

from the machine finished,

In order for that to succeed, more detail has to be gone into.

1.) Differentiation of 5-axis to 3 or 4-axis CNC

5-axis milling heads have more mechanical interfaces than 3 or 4-axis milling heads,

at least 1 more interface, but often several.

5-axis milling heads have greater distances to the traversing slides so that the 5-axis

head has the freedom to rotate. This creates longer levers.

5-axis milling heads often do not have such close-fitting suction systems as 4-axis

milling heads, and some do not have any suction system at all.

2.) What is the difference between a normal milling cutter with a center cutting

edge during face milling and a face milling cutter?

A normal milling cutter with a center cutting edge has the lowest cutting speed in the

center.

A face milling cutter whose interference contour is precisely matched to the motion

profile of the 5-axis CNC cuts at a high cutting speed because the cutting edges are

placed on the outside of the circumference. This gives an optimal milling pattern

when face milling.

3.) Which diameter should you choose?

As few milling paths as possible should always be used, but if the milling head has

problems in the 0 position, the diameter must

of the face milling cutter. Otherwise depressions in the milling path in the form of

grooves will occur because the spindle is not exactly straight.

The grooves become less when either the diameter of the face milling cutter is

reduced or the O-position is remeasured and there is no longer any deviation.

4.) Which tooth shape should you choose?

Air-cooled & dry CNC milling

The Aerotech system for composite and aerospace is used for air-cooled machining

of aluminum, aluminum composite, carbon and fiberglass materials (GRP, CFRP,

PCD drill and PCD countersink as standard or Special tools

A hole is usually a simple movement of the Z axis.

The drill is responsible for the result - structure, angle, slope are

crucial for a good drilling at a reasonable speed and quality.

To prevent the screw heads from protruding, the hole is countersunk using a

countersink. The angle of the screw head, the number and position of the cutting

edges determine how clean the screw is in the countersink.

How does a PCD drill or PCD countersink cut?

In the middle of a drill, the cutting speed = 0. Therefore, optimal chip evacuation is an

absolute necessity.

If there are problems with chip evacuation, clocked drilling in the Z-direction or a

cooling medium such as cooling lubricant or blown air can improve chip evacuation.

Below you will find a selection of PCD drills and PCD countersinks designed and in

use for many materials and applications, some with diamond cutting edges.

Customer example from practice:

When running in a new aluminum product, one of our customers had

massive problems with tool breakage on the drills and poor tool life.

At first it seemed inexplicable why some drills were acceptable and others completely

failed.

When checking the concentricity of the drilling spindle, astonishing things came to

light.

The concentricity was in a spread of more than 0.1mm, which was too much to get a

continuous result from any drilling spindle.

The machine manufacturer specified 0.05mm concentricity for the drilling spindles,

but this has never been verified by a customer.

After half of the drilling spindles had been exchanged for more closely tolerated ones,

the customer could reliably manufacture his new product.

Conclusion: The cause of non-functioning tools does not always lie in the tool

even, sometimes you have to troubleshoot one instance higher.

Router and flush cutter with guide ring

CNC milling machines are not used for all applications, there are numerous

processes for which a simple router is still the most economical means of choice.

One example is milling in hard materials such as Trespa or CFRP but also hardwood.

Due to the high cutting forces, the vacuum clamping of the CNC milling table cannot

firmly clamp the parts to be milled.

Therefore, 0.2mm of the panel height to be milled is left standing and then milled

flush with a flush cutter with a guide ring. The milling quality is absolutely fine and it is

a mature production process. Even small parts can be produced safely in this way.

Even in today's modern mechanical engineering there are plastic parts that are milled

in this way (e.g. guide plates for pre-cutting stations for edge banding on

woodworking machines)

However, hard metal milling cutters with a thrust ring cannot be used for industrial

applications with series character or high quality requirements. The hard metal milling

cutters have a high level of wear and tear and, due to the wear and tear of the hard

metal, the diameter of the milling cutter no longer matches the diameter of the thrust

ring.

In addition, there are quickly markings of the material in the milling cutter.

With diamond routers with a guide ring, the wear on the cutting edge is significantly

lower.

Up-cut milling should be selected as the milling direction. With up-cut milling, the

cutting edge moves from the milled surface out of the milling area (see Fig. 1),

making flush milling easy to control and safe.

This is also an advantage for the wear and tear of the cutting edges, as the milling

cutter does not always have to enter through the unmilled edge of the part.

Important to know: If you can guarantee optimal clamping and absolutely backlashfree

flush.

An important topic for professionals: While with hard metal flush milling cutters not

longer constant due to the hard diamond cutting material compared to hard metal

workpieces, to remove unevenness, for a better grip or to achieve a desired quality.

How can you optimize a face milling cutter?

In the case of very precise surface machining, in addition to the balance quality, the

tooth shape as well as the number of teeth and spindle position are important for an

optimal result.

With the diameter of the face milling cutter and the tooth shape, you can optically

compensate for the offset of the milling tracks caused by the inclined position of the

spindle.

Sawing is the easiest, fastest and usually also the most economical method of

processing or cutting material. Only the interaction of tooth shape, number of teeth

and operating parameters brings the desired result. Our diamond-tipped saw blades

(PCD saw) can be re-sharpened several times and the teeth are matched to your

material. We offer PCD saws with a diameter of 80 - 750 mm for cutting on CNC flap

dividing saws, standing panel saws, angle units, table and sliding table saws. The

saw blades are also used in hand-held circular saws.

PCD saws are particularly suitable for wood materials, but also fiber cement (e.g.

Eternit), HPL, aluminum or glass fiber reinforced plastics.

Which saw blade do I need?

The saw blade with the trapezoidal flat tooth shape meets multiple requirements.

Boards such as coated chipboard can be cut cleanly with it.

For uncoated panels such as OSB or multiplex, hollow tooth saws or alternating tooth

saws are ideal, as they have a low cutting pressure and can sometimes also saw in

plastic. Especially with hand-held circular saws, it is advantageous to use saws with

low cutting pressure, since less force has to be applied to the saw cut.

Saws with a convex shape such as a hemisphere are used e.g. used on hand-held

circular saws for fiber cement panels in facade construction. The round tooth shape

is very stable and robust.

The manufacturers of hand-held circular saws often adapt their saw shape to the

engine power of the saw when they are initially fitted.

Most saw blades have a cutting width of 2.5-4.5mm. Depending on how thick the part

is.

Saw blades that are too thin vibrate and saw blades that are too thick produce too

many chips and require too much cutting force.

How can you optimize a PCD saw?

Depending on the requirements, the cutting edge must be optimally cut, or the

service life of the saw blade must be very long. The cutting force also plays an

important role on manual machines.

The cutting force can be influenced with shaft angles and the saw blade thickness,

and the service life of the saw blade with a robust tooth shape.

Why nesting saw?

As a rule, a "standard" saw is used in nesting. This dips deep through the material to

cut the lower edge of the workpiece. However, too great a depth of cut in the

protective plate / sacrificial plate can lead to too great a loss of vacuum.

Specialty:

The diamond-tipped saw blades are for the industrial production of facades on the

basis of fiber cement. The round tooth enables the saw tooth to plunge gently into

the material. A spoon, one of the oldest tools of all, is therefore round and not

square.

The round tooth is significantly more expensive to manufacture but, due to its round

shape, is much less sensitive to tool edge damage.

The round tooth shape makes the saw blade very robust. The PCD-tipped incisors

provide a very good service life for the incisor.

This saw blade can be re-sharpened after it has been used for the first time. The free
