2 European sites potentially affected<br />

2.1 Sites within the Core Strategy and Development Management Policies<br />

area<br />

2.1.1 All European sites (including Ramsar sites) within the Core Strategy and Development<br />

Management Policies area, which is the whole <strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>Coastal</strong> <strong>District</strong>, are potentially affected.<br />

2.1.2 The European sites wholly or partly within <strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>Coastal</strong> <strong>District</strong> are<br />

• Minsmere – Walberswick Ramsar site<br />

• Minsmere-Walberswick Heaths and Marshes SAC<br />

• Minsmere – Walberswick SPA<br />

• Sandlings SPA<br />

• Alde-Ore Estuary SPA<br />

• Alde-Ore and Butley Estuaries SAC<br />

• Alde-Ore Estuary Ramsar site<br />

• Orfordness – Shingle Street SAC<br />

• Staverton Park and the Thicks SAC<br />

• Deben Estuary SPA<br />

• Deben Estuary Ramsar site<br />

• Stour and Orwell Estuaries Ramsar site<br />

• Stour and Orwell Estuaries SPA<br />

2.2 Sites outside the Core Strategy and Development Management<br />

Policies area<br />

2.2.1 European sites in neighbouring <strong>District</strong>s/Boroughs are also potentially affected. These<br />

neighbouring <strong>District</strong>s/Boroughs are Ipswich Borough, Waveney <strong>District</strong> and Babergh <strong>District</strong>.<br />

European sites in Tendring <strong>District</strong> may also be potentially affected. European sites in Mid<br />

<strong>Suffolk</strong> <strong>District</strong> are considered to be at sufficient distance that there is not likely to be a<br />

significant effect on those sites.<br />

2.2.2 These European sites are large and can overlap Local Authority boundaries, so are listed below<br />

without reference to specific <strong>District</strong> / Borough. The European sites potentially affected are<br />

• Hamford Water SPA<br />

• Hamford Water Ramsar site<br />

• Colne Estuary (Mid Essex Coast phase 2) SPA<br />

• Essex Estuaries SAC<br />

• Colne Estuary (Mid Essex Coast phase 2) Ramsar site<br />

• The Broads SAC<br />

• Benacre to Easton Bavents Lagoons SAC<br />

• Dews Ponds SAC<br />

• Broadland SPA<br />

• Broadland Ramsar site<br />

• Benacre to Easton Bavents SPA<br />
