Within the Advent wreath are five white candles.ced around the edge of the wreath, represent the four weeks of the Advent season as well as ‘theing into the world through the birth of Jesus Christ’. These four candles each have a meaning andChristian concepts: Hope week one, Peace week two, Joy week three and Love week four.placed in the centre of the wreath to symbolise the arrival of Christmastide, sometimes known ase’. The centre candle is lit at St. Andrews Church, Sonning at Midnight mass on Christmas Eve.ard is produced by the Friends of St. Andrew's Church and all profits from its sale gos ensuring the continued restoration, repair and maintenance of this beautiful Church.Registered Charity number: 1101944www.sonningparish.org.ukRemembrance SundayBACKSadly, because of Covid restrictionsthere will not be a public service onRemembrance Sunday.The 9.30am communion servicewill take place as usual on Sunday8 November, but this will not haveremembrance as its theme and, aswe are limited to 90 worshippersin church, we cannot accommodateRemembrance Day visitors.There will be a short service at10.50am, which will include seniormembers of the Royal British Legionwhere we shall read out the Roll ofHonour and observe the two minutesilence, but it must be stressed, thisis not open to the public. However,it will be live streamed on our livestream page.Armistice DayMembers and supporters of theRoyal British Legion are invited intochurch at 10.45am on Wednesday 11November where there will be an actof remembrance and the two minutessilence. Social distancing rules needto be adhered to by all who attend.All SoulsThere will be no All Souls memorialservice this year because of Covidrestrictions but the contact details forall with whom we have been involvedin bereavement ministry in the last12 months will be used next year toinclude them in the 2021 service.The Friends of Saint Andrew's 2020 Christmas cards are now on sale.FRONTThis year they feature a Nigel Leviss picture of the Advent ring thatsymbolises the four weeks of hope, joy, peace and love that lead up toChristmas.At Christmas, a fifth, central candle, is lit to symbolise Christ, the lightwho came into the world. The first Advent Candle in St Andrew's will belit on Sunday 29 November — Covid permitting.The FoStAC 2020 Christmas cards are available at £5 for a pack of 10 cards andenvelopes.
