Design by

Design by

François Touber

Engineer, entrepreneur, art

collector, interior designer and

garden designer, François Touber

lives many lives turning each

experience into an intellectual

voyage. His main philosophy

echoes the Asian understanding

of Feng shui in the sense that his

realizations link nature, culture

and wellbeing in a single and

continuous flow. Touber adds to

his philosophy the Scandinavian

concept of Hygge, the Danish

secret to happiness, where

coziness and ability to enjoy

simple things in a warm and

friendly atmosphere fulfill the

soul and body.

His French adaptation of Feng

shui and Hygge brings history

and culture as the necessary

background, present in a stone, a

cabinet, a piece of art or a fabric

pattern like many nods to what

build the beauty of humanity.

Touber sees ecology and economy

as part of one single operating

system making the sustainability

of the act of creating a necessary

condition.

This is why the HotelsT balance

their carbon impact in green

investments in the French forests.

Energy consumption and

material used are studied in great

details to participate to the

crucial challenge of protecting

the Earth.

Beauty is to be found in all

material, colors and shapes.

Touber’s work is characterized by

the unusual diversity of

materials, his peculiar use of

colors while embracing the

singularity that every room can

offer. Thus the HotelsT present

amazing wealth of concepts to

feel, see, embrace and feel good.

A trendy hotel, in

the former Institute

of Zoology of

Bordeaux

The Institute of Zoology was

built in the beginning of the 20th

century (1900-1903) by the

architect Ernest Lacombe and is

a landmark building of the

contemporary academic

architecture characterized by its

metallic structure mixed with

bricks and stones allowing large

openings and glass roofs.

The renovation of the

building has beautified this

landmarked architecture to

which two modern wings have

been added still in the theme

of natural science.

The whole building is

structured around a garden

echoing the public park across the

street in front of the historical

Institute of Zoology.

“…l’accueil est génial, le personnel est jeune, souriant, dynamique, attentionné et

très professionnel… un havre de paix… le repas [était] top et copieux…

… fantastic service, the staff is young, welcoming, dynamic, very attentive and

professional… a peace heaven… the meal [was] top and generous…

the hotel La Zoologie is

located on the ground

floor in the Zoology

wing. The open-kitchen

restaurant offers a

continuous show for

our guests.

Based on the high

quality and of the

products, the

restaurant offers a

cuisine inspired by the

traditional Bordelaise

cuisine with a modern

twist while keeping it

simple, approachable

and fresh! Flavours and

simplicity await you

everyday for lunch and

exceptional setting.

The Classic Rooms at The Zoology

Classic Double bedrooms, with an average size of 24m2, are equipped with a

Queen Size bed (160 x 200) or a King Size bed (180 x 200).

The ones located in the Zoology Wing are enlightened thanks to high French

windows with indoor wooden shutters, offering a splendid view on the public places

Cours de la Marne and André Meunier.

Their typical Bordeaux old stones and clay walls, as long as their curtains

representing the animal kingdom from yesterday and today, reflect the history of the

building.

The bathrooms with Italian showers mirror the laboratory parts of the biology

or biochemistry researchers’ desks…in metal or glass.

On the second floor, oolitic limestone benches used in the past by former

students in zoology have been preserved and used as desks.

The ones located in the Botanic Wing, with an average size of 21m2 and

overhanging on the hotel inner garden, are equipped with bathrooms which can

accommodate persons with disabilities.

Their forest bamboo floors, and their Ananbo panoramics (made in Bordeaux)

refer to faraway lands invoking serenity from another age. The Orinoco River

(Colombia, Venezuela) or the Ganges River banks are true inspirations to travelling.

The Comfort Rooms at The Zoology

La Zoologie Hotel offers 3 types of Comfort bedrooms with different designs

depending on the wing they are located in. Their average size is 25m2 and they are

equipped with a Queen Size bed (160 x 200) or a King Size bed (180 x 200). They can

be made in Twin bedrooms on request.

Comfort rooms of the Zoology Wing (freestanding bathtub + separated

bathroom). Located in the historical wing of the building, with high French windows

and indoor wooden shutters, they offer a splendid view on the public place Cours de

la Marne. Typical Bordeaux old stones and clay walls, curtains representing the

animal kingdom, bathrooms with Italian showers…The design of the rooms is sober

and natural. For even more convenience, in every Comfort room of the Zoology Wing

is a freestanding bathtub.

Comfort rooms of the

Geology Wing with a view on the

hotel inner garden, offer a change

of scenery. Wall colours inspired

by Le Corbusier’s pallet, ceilings

in raw concrete, floors and

bathrooms made of clay.With

curtains in African wax fabric, the

rooms give an African vibe. All of

them are equipped with a shower,

and their large bay windows open

onto a 7m2 private balcony, full

West exposure.

The Comfort room of the

Botanical Wing has a view on a

pedestrian path “la sente” and on

the former building Santé Navale,

where doctors for la Royale

(French Marines) used to be

trained. The room is more spacious

(28 m²), offers wonderfully high

ceilings and is emphasized by

forest bamboo floors. True

inspiration to dreaming and

travelling, one of the walls is

magnified by an Ananbo

panaromic (made in Bordeaux)

referring to the enchanting forest

along the Orinoco River bank. It is

equipped with a Queen Size bed

(160 x 200) and a shower.

The Deluxe Rooms at The

Zoology

If you are a fan of big spaces, the Deluxe Double rooms with an

average size of 32m2 will perfectly match with your expectations.

All the Deluxe Double rooms are equipped with a Queen Size bed

(160 x 200) or a King Size bed (180 x 200). For even more convenience,

they are also equipped with a Nespresso machine and offer free access to

the Hotel Spa.

Regarding the design, you will have the choice between a sober and

elegant design of the historical building (the Zoology Wing), and one more

modern with colours inspired by Le Corbusier’s pallet (the Geology Wing).

All of them are equipped with an Italian Shower, and 2 of them have a

separated bathroom.

Beside their fine volume, the rooms located in the Geology Wing

open to a private balcony with a view on the hotel inner garden to benefit

from the mild climate of Bordeaux.

The Suite Duplex Terrace at The

Zoology

Located on the last level of the hotel in the Botanic wing, the Duplex

suite is a wonderful suite on two levels. Its double exposure both on the

former building Santé Navale, where doctors for la Royale (French Marines)

used to be trained and on the hotel inner garden, offer a remarkable view

and large spaces. Its private terrace (more than 20m2) and sunbathes will

make you appreciate the temperate climate of Bordeaux freely.

Ideal for a one-on-one getaway but also for people looking for a luxury

and spacious room for a long stay, our Duplex Suite will give you the

quietness you need. The living room is equipped with a convertible bel for 1

adult, 1 adult and 1 child, or 2 children; each level has its own bathroom in

order to provide intimacy and sharing moments.

Toile de Jouy patterns present themselves as a

typical Parisian nest with all the modern

equipment and freshly renovated bathrooms.

materials. Art works from Marco Del Re by the Galerie

Maeght complete these rooms that truly define the new

Parisian style.

Superior Rooms

The Ethnic

The Ethnic Design rooms are located in the

courtyard and have their own small private garden.

Entering directly to your room from the courtyard and

through your private bamboos garden, will make you

feel like you have your own little garden studio in the

historical heart of Paris. The design of the room is filled

with African beats: black and red CAROCIM tiles,

original stone work and red clay finish uplifted by

modern finishing touches and sophisticated lighting. A

Jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom completes the most

special feel for these rooms.

Deluxe Rooms

An artist in Paris

The Prince de Conti has three Deluxe rooms: two duplex

(semi triplex), and a room on the courtyard with its private

terrace. These rooms are characterized by the deconstruction

of the room’s space for a unique experience of Paris. Modern

design and traditional Parisian use of such space echo the

timeless image of the artist studio in Paris, a creativity cluster.

The Duplex rooms look onto the little rue Guénégaud.

They are on three levels: as you walk in you will see the

bathroom in a light grey marble on the side and then a salon

with tall windows that stretch out over a half landing. A few

steps away, via a tiny staircase, your bedrooms awaits. In the

bathroom there is an unusual feature -mirrors can swing

round to open a view over the small salon. These duplex rooms

will make you feel like you are living the life of an artist in

Paris.

Deluxe Rooms

An artist in Paris

The room 1 offers a quiet and peaceful retreat with

its bamboo garden. Bright colors, sophisticated lighting,

original art works are some of the new design features

that will strike our guests. The highlight of the room is

its bathroom: wooden framed windows keep the

bathroom open into the room and vice versa (toilets are

separated of course). The splendid CAROCIM tiles

layout gives a bright and happy feel. A Jacuzzi bathtub

completes the well-being of this ‘very design’ room with

its washstand by famous Spanish designer Jaime Hayon

distributed by Bisazza.

Each room has original art works, some from the

renowned Tribal Art Gallery down the street and from

around the world.

The very Design

Suite

no. 4

The Prince de Conti offers two

special suites. These rooms are truly

unique and have an ultra-modern

feel to them, with colors chosen

among the work of the renowned

architect Le Corbusier.

The no.4 is located at the back

of the interior courtyard. From

there, you reach a private staircase,

tiled with CIM ceramics in black,

whiAROCte and a touch of grey.

This staircase takes you to the

suite’s living area. It is in a small

building and you have the whole to

yourself. This means you have total

privacy, a little haven of peace for

lovers in the middle of Paris.

The very Design Suite

no. 24

The no.24 is located on the second floor of the main

building, on the courtyard side; after the hustle and

bustle of city life, you will find a haven of peace

overlooking the quiet Parisian rooftops’ architecture,

much beloved for artists and poets.

Each of these suites benefits from three distinctive

rooms, one after the other: a living area, a bathroom and

a bedroom. The bathroom is one of the highlights of the

suite; it will help you relax and renew with its special

balnotherapy (spa bath) and chromotherapy (color

therapy).

Palazzetto Rosso

Siena

The Palazzetto Rosso is

located in a very old

building completely made of

bricks, and was most likely a

locanda, meaning that it

already hosted travelers

during the Middle Age, as

Tuscany was an intense trade

and business center in Europe.

The Palazzetto Rosso’s brick

façade’s lay out follows

multiple shapes such as large

ribs and geometrical patterns,

skillfully organized upon old

planning regulations dated

from the Middle Age, and

distinctive to Siena.

This outstanding historical

façade is completed by ensigns

and flares made of wrought

iron and dated from the

Middle Age as well.

A Design Collection

The extra large floor tiles in gray shades from the Italian

mARTerial firm 14 Ora Italiana and the hip design furniture give the

contemporary design bit of the Palazzetto Rosso:

bistro style tables in black or white – Siena’s official tones- signed

by fabulous designer Luca Nichetto for Casamania;

3D chairs and armchairs in several bright colors and

black Zippo banquettes from Pedrali’s designers, the enlighten iceberg

white bar by renowned designers Claudio Dondoli and Marco

Pocci for Pedrali, Kant bar stools by fashionable designer Karim

Rashid for Casamania, and for the breakfast buffet and afternoon

snacks, the large bright red N7 table in its origami style by the

promising young designer Novayr Khachatryan for Casamania.

Lighting is done by lights gurus designers Michele De Lucchi and

Giancarlo Fassina for Artémide, what else.

Room no.1

The 26 sq.m. room (about 280 sq.f) is located on the first story and displays

an impressive ceiling height of about 3 meters (about 10 feet). It has a queen size

bed, a lobby room and a bathroom with shower.

You will enjoy the extra-large tiles in green shades from the Italian

mARTerial firm 14 Ora Italiana which offer a very smooth and velvety feeling to

the touch. The window opens onto a very quiet street and you will be able to see the

top of the Santa Maria de Provenzano’s dome, a large and majestic church that can

be seen from the Tuscan countryside when arriving to Siena from the South.

The bed is positioned in the middle of the room and enlightened by the

renowned Tolomeo Micro by lights gurus designers Michele De Lucchi and

Giancarlo Fassina for Artémide. You will be blown by the original wardrobe,

pillars of multicolor metallic cases in a very fashionable design by Seletti. The vad

chairs by the Venetian native super hip designer Luca Nichetto for Casamania

fulfill the art and design feel in a typical and traditional Tuscany hotel space

characterized by the terra cotta ceiling and wooden beams. The room refinement is

topped by the doubled-curtains made of Venetian fabric from the nearly twocentury

old landmark Venetian house Rubelli.

Room no.2

This romantic 24 sq.m. room (about 260 sq.f) is located on the

first story and displays an impressive ceiling height of about 3 meters

(about 10 feet). It has a queen size bed with a large bathroom and all

barrier-free access to welcome guests with disabilities.

Our guests will enjoy the extra-large tiles in smooth colored

patchwork from the Italian mARTerial firm 14 Ora Italiana which

offer a velvety feeling to the touch. The window opens onto a very

quiet street and you will be able to see the top of the Santa Maria de

Provenzano’s dome, a large and majestic church that can be seen

from the Tuscan countryside when arriving to Siena from the South.

An entire brick wall dating from the construction of the

building in the medieval time echoes the original traditional Tuscan

ceiling. The room offers today’s modern level of comfort with a design

twist. Furniture comes from the greatest designers: wardrobe by the

Joan of Arc of design, Matali Crasset; coffee table Twine by Wis

Design for Casamania; armchairs very design Ester in red leather by

the 2013 Good Design Award winner Patrick Jouin. The

renowned Tolomeo Micro and Tolomeo Terra by lights gurus

designers Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina for Artémide

brighten the room as well as the glass desk where our guests will

discover the acclaimed touch commanded table lamp, Aurelia, by the

very fashionable Taiwanese design firm, Qis Design, a Golden Pin

Design Award winner. The room refinement is topped by the

doubled-curtains made of Venetian fabric from the nearly twocentury

old landmark Venetian house Rubelli.

Suite no.3

The 50 sq.m. room (about 539 sq.f) is located on the first story and displays

an impressive ceiling height of about 5 meters (over 16 feet). It has a king size

bed that can be arranged as twin beds.

A bedroom that respects the typical style of a design hotel as Palazzetto

Rosso is. Forms and furnishings that combine the design of the most important

brands with an incomparable Tuscan classicism.

This room offers a tremendously and surprisingly majestic volume: the

enormous wooden beams are supported by sculpted corbels; the four walls display

an impressive painted frieze; a monumental fireplace sits imposingly; the view

gives itself like a painting framed by the windows, of the Rocca Salimbeni, a

fortified palace from the 13thCentury, part of the historical headquarter of the

Monte dei Paschi Bank, the oldest bank in the world and still running! The

small alcoves in the walls are some time to time surrounded by white and red

painted bricks, the colors of medieval Siena, the historical center of the city of

Siena.

A red cube, half glazed with two large bay windows, sits in the middle of the

large room and provides today’s comfort of a modern bathroom with a design flair

in the tiles that reminds raw concrete. The toilet is separated.

The extra large tiles from the Italian mARTerial firm 14 Ora Italiana are

displayed in diagonal in a uniform red for the lounge and in red and green tartan

for the bedroom and office area. Around the fireplace, that still diffuses firewood

scents from its multi-centurial uses, our guests can enjoy a hat stand Ruben from

designer Ilaria Marelli for Casamania, armchairs Pacha by renowned designers

Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci for Pedrali, and a coffee table Around by Thomas

Bentzen for Muuto.

The wardrobe keeps on raising the originality of the place in the form of a

stack of leather suitcases by Maarten de Ceulaer, chairs and armchairs very

design Ester in white leather by the 2013 Good Design Award winner Patrick Jouin,

a green table from Muuto fulfills the comfort of the office corner. Above the desk, a

large painting from Dutch and very duchess artist Cathalijn Wounters completes

the scene. The lighting scenery is signed by Artémide and its designer Michele De

Lucchi and by the very fashionable Taiwanese design firm, Qis Design, with its

famous table lamp Hatha. The flax doubled-curtains fill the dots between the

medieval setting and the contemporary design with bright colors embroideries from

the French Maison Boussac.

Suite no.4

In our hotel any detail has been chosen to

make our guests’ stay unforgettable. And what’s

more unforgettable than a romantic holiday in our

hotel in the lovely setting of Tuscany, in Italy... This

suite, for example, spacious but at the same time

intimate (50 sq.m. or about 539 sq.f) is located on

the second story and displays an impressive ceiling

height of about 4 meters (over 13 feet). It has a king

size bed that can be arranged as twin beds.

Most likely one of the most beautiful suite of

the Palazzetto Rosso and even Siena with four large

windows offering a panoramic view on the Contrada

de la Giraffa with the dome of the Santa Maria in

Provenzano’s Church –a Baroque church from the

beginning of the 17th Century- and the gorgeous

and timeless Tuscan landscape with the Sienese

crests.

This room offers a majestic volume with an

impressive high ceiling displaying enormous

wooden beams, supported by sculpted corbels. The

impressive painted friezes give the medieval palatial

feel to the suite.

The bathroom gives the illusion of a bright yellow

box slid onto extra large tiles from the Italian

mARTerial firm 14 Ora Italiana in blue and green

tartan. The bathtub looks toward the dome of the

Santa Maria in Provenzano’s Church.

The suite’s lounge is highlighted by the

fuchsia pink and bright yellow Elisabette sofa by

fabulous French designer Sam Baron for

Casamania, the coffee table Around by super hip

Danish designer Thomas Bentzen for Muuto and

two magnificent armchairs Pasha in black that

need no introduction anymore! A hat

stand Ruben from designer Ilaria Marelli for

Casamania complements the lounge.

In the middle of the room sits a very large desk table matched with

pivoting elegant vad armchairs in bright yellow and fuchsia leather.

A Kartell piece of furniture holds the TV. The box shelves from Muuto

top the voluntary clash between Middle-Age and Modernism’s sceneries.

A large painting from Dutch and very duchess artist Cathalijn Wounters

completes the effect.

The lighting scenery is signed by Artémide with the

majestic Tolomeo Mega. The desk from Muuto and made of fragmented

wood hosts the famous Hatha light, an exquisite combination of rubber

and metal, offering playful design and material experiences. The flax

doubled-curtains with Santa Fe embroideries from the French Maison

Boussac give a modern twist to the room and reinforce its intimacy feel.

Room no.5

The 28 sq.m. room (over 300 sq.f) is located on the second story and

displays a ceiling height of about 3 meters (almost 10 feet). It has a king size

bed that can be arranged as twin beds.

This room is extremely original by featuring a very unusual lengthened

shape with an attractive perspective made of arches more or less complete in

various directions, giving to the space a very lively feel. The floor is in white

and red giant tartan. The ceiling keeps it traditional. An antique fountain

representing a lion’s head tops the marble sink in the toilet’s room. A large

bathtub opens up onto a wide glass door which itself offers the view of the

window. The flax doubled-curtains with Santa Fe embroideries from the

French Maison Boussac complete the room.

The wardrobe keeps on raising the originality of the place in the form

of a stack of leather suitcases in green tones by Maarten de Ceulaer for

Casamania. The vad high table in white for Casamania and the bar

stools Nerd in green by the young German designer David Geckeler for Muuto

offers the perfect spot to spy on the Sienese gourmands heading to their

favorite ice-cream store, the Copa Cabana on the way to San Francesco Church.

This room can be connected with the room next door, the Suite 6.

Suite no.6

Elegant and refined bedrooms, service focused on our guest’s needs,

suites created with careful thought inspired to design and art – all in an

inimitable setting. This means to be a luxury hotel in Tuscany, where the

word luxury is simply the constant search of our guest’s satisfaction. This 53

sq.m. room (over 570 sq.f) is located on the second story and displays an

impressive ceiling height of about 5 meters (over 16 feet). It has a king size
