The cold winds blow, chimneys smoke and COVID-19 is<br />
afoot!! But with public health guidelines in mind, the bakers<br />
at Wee Ones and Valhalla Children’s Centre will pull out their<br />
recipe books, search out their favourites, preheat their ovens,<br />
put on their masks and gloves and will again stir up those<br />
mouth-watering morsels to bake, bake, bake!<br />
These tried-and-true temptations will be available for sale to<br />
the community at our annual Cookie-Rama.<br />
Situated in the Old School House in South Slocan since 1987,<br />
Wee Ones continues to provide care that supports and nurtures<br />
children’s learning. If you travel north up to Slocan Lake, to the<br />
centre of town, you will find Valhalla Children’s Centre welcoming<br />
children from New Denver to <strong>Nelson</strong>. Every year at this<br />
time, the caregivers and families associated with Wee Ones and<br />
Valhalla Centre stir, whip, roll, cut, and bake 100 dozen delectably,<br />
delicious dainties to sell to their community. Knowing<br />
people’s concerns about contracting the virus, you can be sure<br />
all of our bakers will take the necessary steps to provide our<br />
communities with cookies, cookies, cookies for this year also.<br />
Are your taste buds watering for an international delicacy like<br />
Scottish shortbread, Swedish cardamom rounds or Mexican<br />
chocolate cherry chews? Does your sweet tooth desire a nibble<br />
of an old favourite like gingerbread, chocolate chip or snickerdoodle?<br />
Did you say you can only eat gluten-free? No problem<br />
for our creative cooks!<br />
