Even though most of us are still working, schooling, teaching from home, 

it is refreshing to see the numbers of new positive cases of Covid-19 

decline in Texas and even in our Zip Code. However, please do not let your 

guard down and keep safe and continue the social distancing guidelines 

and the wearing of protective coverings. 

I would like to take a moment to thank all the frontline workers that are 

keeping things running. Whether that be the blessed healthcare workers, 

the first responders, teachers, grocery store workers or restaurant 

workers, we appreciate you all.

NATIONAL COTTON CANDY DAY 

National cotton candy day is celebrated on December 7 th , the day of my 

birthday!!! I bet everyone loves cotton candy or should I say, “fairy floss!” 

You are probably wondering what fairy floss is. Fairy floss is another name 

for cotton candy. When I talk about “fairy floss,” it reminds me of a big fluffy 

cloud. What does “fairy floss” remind you of? Believe it or not, a dentist 

named William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton created the 

first cotton candy machine in the 1800s. In 1904, there was a World’s Fairy 

Floss Fair where people bought 68,000 boxes of fairy floss for $0.25 cents. 

Here is a cool fact about cotton candy. Cotton candy is healthier than 

many other deserts because it is only made from 2 ingredients (air and 

colored sugar). I hope everyone will enjoy their Fairy Floss Day. I think 

instead of saying cotton candy, we should say “Fairy Floss” - sounds more 

magical!

The Board of Directors meet monthly in the community and homeowners 

are welcome to attend. Please contact management to obtain the meeting 

date and time in advance, as the schedule and location may change from 

time to time. You are also welcome to email management any questions 

or concerns you may have to scarey@highsierramanagement.com if you 

are unable to attend meetings and the Board of Directors will be happy 

to send you a response. As a reminder, monthly financials, governing 

documents, meeting minutes, forms, schedules, etc. are updated on the 

Association website for your review at any time. 

STREETLIGHTS 

Please report any lights that are out, blinking or on during the day. Part 

of your annual Homeowners fee pays for your streetlights, whether they 

work or not. If a light is out in your area, please call 713-207-2222 or go 

to www.centerpointenergy.com/outage and report it. Each light pole 

should have a 6-digit number on it. When reporting the light, you will 

need to provide the pole number and closest intersection or address. We 

want all our lights to work… a well lit area is a safe area! 

SIGNS ON MAILBOXES, 

LIGHT POLES AND STREET SIGNS 

If you place signs in and around the neighborhood for Garage Sales, 

Lost Pets, etc., please make sure you remove them in a timely manner. 

Remember that postal boxes are the property of the USPS and it is a 

crime to attach anything to the cluster mailboxes! Please help to keep 

Aberdeen Trails looking beautiful! 

TENNIS COURT USE 

We have received reports that children have been using the tennis courts 

for everything but tennis. Please reiterate to your children that use of the 

courts is for tennis play ONLY. No soccer, rollerblading, skateboarding, 

bike riding, basketball, etc. allowed. Children caught abusing the courts 

may cause their parents to be financial penalized for any damages. 

THE CITY OF HOUSTON URGES RESIDENTS 

TO SIGN UP FOR EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS 

The City of Houston, in partnership with the Greater Harris County 

9-1-1 Emergency Network, is now offering emergency notifications 

to mobile phones through the Emergency Notification System (ENS). 

These emergency alerts will help residents get more information about 

emergencies in their neighborhoods, such as hazardous chemical spills, 

floods and large fires. 

Staying informed is an important way of keeping yourself and your family 

safe when emergencies occur. Landline home or work telephones are 

already a part of the ENS system and now residents can register their cell 

or internet phone numbers so they can be alerted about an emergency 

in their community. It’s simple and easy; sign-up at the City of Houston 

Office of Emergency Management website http://alert.houstonoem.org 

or http://911.org and register up to four telephone numbers. 

Houstonians can also register for ‘Alert Houston,’ the City of Houston’s 

Email Notification System, which sends emails to residents when 

emergencies affecting a large portion of the city occur, such as severe 

weather and hurricanes.

RECREATION VEHICLES AND TRAILERS 

We have been receiving numerous reports about all terrain vehicles 

being ridden along the drainage ditch areas and power line easements. 

As a reminder, this is private property and we have instructed the 

Constable Patrol to monitor the areas and write citations for trespassing, 

as well as deterring safety hazards. We have also noticed personal utility 

trailers being parked behind fences along the drainage ditch and will be 

collecting license plate information to determine ownership for violation 

notices from the Association, as well as the Constable Patrol issuing 

citations for trespassing on private property. Towing of the trailers could 

be an end result as well. 

CONSTABLE PATROL 

As a reminder, the Association has a patrol contract through Harris 

County Precinct 5 Constable. We share 40 hours of patrol per week 

at random time with Aberdeen Trails HOA. Please add the following 

dispatch number to your cell phones or post in a visible place at home 

in case you need support in a non life-threatening situation. Their nonemergency 

dispatch number is 281-463-6666. The Constable Patrol also 

offers a free vacation watch service. Log on to their website at www. 

co.harris.tx.us/pct5/forms.aspx to obtain a form and learn more about 

the program. 

LOITERING AND VANDALISM 

Please help us to keep our recreation areas safe and clean by reporting 

any and all loitering after dark directly to the Constable and then to 

management. Please also remember to report any suspicious persons 

walking around the community or at the parks immediately to the 

Constable Patrol non-emergency dispatch number at 281-463-6666.

LANGHAM CREEK STUDENT 

CROWNED MISS TEEN TELUGU UNIVERSE 

Langham Creek High School sophomore Nitya Kodali was crowned 

Miss Teen Telugu Universe 2020. The international pageant consisted 

of finalists from more than 40 countries including India, Canada, New 

Zealand, Australia, Dubai and the United Kingdom, as the cultural event 

took place in collaboration with more than 100 organizations and 18,000 

participants. 

A jury panel declared Kodali the winner and she was officially crowned 

Oct. 3. The pageant’s vision and goal is to nurture, promote and advance 

Telugu culture in young women across the world. It consisted of multiple 

rounds, including Telugu speaking, question and answer and talent. 

Kodali was among 22 finalists chosen from more than 700 semifinalists to 

compete in the grand finals representing her Indian Telugu community 

despite being one of the pageant’s youngest contestants at 15 years old. 

“I was in complete shock when they announced my name at the pageant,” 

Kodali said. “This was my first time competing in a pageant and it is 

honestly a dream come true to be honored with such a prestigious title. 

My journey to the crown has certainly been unforgettable and required 

lots of hard work.” 

Kodali has added more successful pageant experience, winning titles 

of Miss Yuvarani USA and Miss International Congeniality following the 

initial crown. 

Kodali actively participates in HOSA - Future Health Professionals and 

Science Olympiad at Langham Creek. She volunteers at Houston’s local 

Telugu school as a teacher to help promote her language and culture. In 

addition, she is the founder, director and CEO of Letters & Love, a studentled 

volunteer organization dedicated to spreading positivity across the 

world through letters. 

“Pageants are a wonderful opportunity for self-development and 

confidence,” Kodali said. “You meet wonderful people along the way 

and truly foster beautiful connections. Telugu culture has always been a 

strong part of my identity and I am immensely grateful to represent the 

Telugu community across the globe as the world’s first-ever Miss Teen 

Telugu Universe.”
