It’s for 1st nations people. There are liaison workers who work between doctors and patients. There are traditional foods available, traditional medicine, language translators, and a child life worker. They also provide cross cultural workshops to communities and those who work with 1st nations people. Interview with Donna Hogan. Its focus is the importance of traditional foods, particularly caribou, and the values of life on the land. People in Old Crow fear for the safety of the porcupine caribou herd. From elders to youth, a wide variety of residents voice their concerns for the future of the caribou. Produced by Mark Stevens. 04 04/11/1996 Tuberculosis is an ancient disease that is making a comeback in the Yukon. Health officials are looking at new alternatives to put a lid on this curable disease. Nedaa, looks into the lives a 4 Yukon First Nation peoples who have been affected by TB. Two who were once in sanitariums in the south in the 50’s, one who recently has overcome the disease, and one who is taking medication to prevent the disease to develop in her body. Nedaa also talks with the recently developed TB program at Whitehorse General Hospital. Interviews with Emma Shorty, Emma Alfred, Francis Joe, and Joanne Crosby. It’s a hilarious trip to “Vision Express” the eye glass store to replace the poor DIA (Dept. of Indian Affairs) glasses that are failing her.
