LOOKING AHEAD TO 2021
National Day of Prayer - 70th Anniversary Celebration
The National Day of Prayer observance was created in 1952 by a
joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by
President Harry S. Truman, each year since then, amended in 1988
to be the First Thursday of May, our President has called upon the
citizens of our nation to prayer. The significance for us as a nation is
that it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding
fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical challenges
and decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God,
seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a
people. In 2021, we will celebrate the 70 years of prayer for America.
2021 National Observances from Washington D.C.
On Thursday, May 6th, 2021, we plan to
participate in the congressionally sponsored
Annual National Observance on Capitol Hill midday,
then through the collaborative efforts of
our ministry and broadcast partners, through
television and via social media, we will broadcast
and stream an evening prayer gathering LIVE from
the Bible Museum in Washington D.C. – reaching into
hundreds of millions of households across our nation
and throughout the world.
2021 National Day of Prayer Gatherings
Along with our Washington gathering, we plan to once again mobilize
through resourcing and coaching, our more than 17,000 volunteer
leaders, to rally more than 60,000 local and virtual community
events in every state in the union. We hope to see millions gather
humbly to repent, demonstrate unity, and passionately pray for
America.
2021 National Leadership Summit
In September of 2021, we plan to gather
our volunteer coordinators from across
the nation ‘in person’ for our annual
national summit in St. Louis, Missouri. Our
summits are critical for the development
of strategic relationships, year-round
prayer mobilization and ministry,
partnering, collaboration, training and
announcing our annual mobilization theme
including prayer prompts and year-long
action steps.
