Renovation Project
Kootenay artist, Bruce Paterson, has
helped his former East Shore friends
and neighbours by donating an original
painting of Crawford Bay’s Community
Hall to support a fundraiser
to rejuvenate and preserve the 1938
building. Paterson is well-known for his
charming depictions of historic regional
buildings including Kaslo’s City Hall,
Nelson’s Bank of Montreal and Pilot Bay

Bay School for eight years and has fond
memories of community events held in
the hall which for many decades was
attached to the school!
The Crawford Bay & District Hall
& Parks Association has been actively
raising funds for the past year for the
building’s Rejuvenation & Preservation
Project. Community donations alone
have now exceeded over $12,600 and an
architect is scheduled to begin preliminary
work in the hall before the end of
this year.
The fundraising committee have
made Bruce Paterson’s generous donation
into black & white blank cards and
signed colour prints which are suitable
