Nottingham Forest Women are delighted to announce an
agreement with Showcase Cinema de Lux as its new frontof-shirt
partner for the second consecutive season.
By becoming Forest Women’s shirt sponsor, Showcase Cinema de Lux
will now proudly display their logo on the front of the match
shirts for all three of The Reds’ senior teams and firstteam
warm-up shirts from the beginning of the FA
Women’s National League 2020-21 season.
The agreement represents another sign of
Forest Women’s growing stature in the
women’s game. As part of the partnership,
Forest Women will also have advertising in
the cinema throughout the ten-month
season.
Forest Women’s Head Coach, Andy Cook,
said: “We are delighted to partner with
such a global brand that aligns with our
core fanbase. This is a landmark
partnership with it being the biggest shirt
sponsorship in the history of the
women’s programme. To have such a
strong and powerful brand supporting
women’s football outside of the top tier
shows the direction of the women’s game
on and off the pitch, particularly here at
Nottingham Forest.

THE GAFFER
Good afternoon and welcome to
Eastwood. It’s great to be back
playing at home for the final time in
2020.
I’d like to first welcome Louis, his staff and
the players from West Bromwich Albion. We had
a good game with them on the opening day of the
season where we finished the game with a draw. I
expect another tough game from WBA today.
Our game today is our official rainbow laces game,
a campaign tackling inequality in sport. I am very
much of the view that sport is for everybody and
everyone should have an opportunity to play and
enjoy the benefits of being in involved in sport. At
Forest we are very much behind this campaign and
support stonewall in their endeavour to promote
acceptance without exception.
Since we came back from the second national
lockdown we have trained well and managed to
play an in-house game aswell as 6 sessions along
with a monumental 4 hour training session. This
squad is in a great position going into the middle
third of the season. We have 26 players in our
squad which allows us to play competitive in-house
games. These games are crucial to how I like to
work, we dont have to deal with 12-16 players on
a training day and if a couple of injuries happen,
we then aren’t left with 13-14 players. We can still
work and develop every player. This is where those
players who haven’t made the squad of 16 can make
a claim to be involved. Their attitudes have been
phenomenal and the way they conduct themselves
is first class, these players are the reason why we
have such a good team and such a good group of
characters.
We now have our FA Cup opposition which is an
away game to Wolves on January 3rd. It should be
a great game and one we are all looking forward
too. Along with this, we also have the second half
of the season’s fixtures. You can check these out
online and keep up to date of when these games
will be played as we can have a limited number
of fans in the stadium following government
guidelines.
I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Lyndsey
Harkin on her 200 th appearance for Nottingham
Forest. Before I joined the club I knew of Lyndsey
from her time with Doncaster. What I did not know,
was how good of a player she is. She can pass and
use the ball as well as anyone I’ve seen and her
defensive positioning is one of the best. I’ve got to
know her very well during my time at Forest and
she is a fantastic person. She leads through her
performances and is the best captain I could ask
for. To reach 200 appearances is phenomenal and
something to be very proud of. Congratulations
Lyndsey.
I would like to finally wish you all a very Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope 2021
brings us all more luck and success.

Rayner flashed some great footwork on the 74th
minute as she kept hold off the ball down the right
flank before whipping a cross into the box. Johnson
charged into the area and met the ball at the far
post but her volley agonisingly rolled marginally
wide.
Scarr went on the hunt for her side’s second goal of
the game on the 79th minute as she broke into the
Forest final third but Aguirre got down low to make
another great stop.
Charlotte Greengrass teed up a shot on the
89th minute for The Reds as she carried the ball
before striking from long-range but her shot was
well blocked. Fortunately, the blocked ball rolled
directly out to Hewitt on the edge of the box who
whipped one last cross into the area for Forest but
the ‘keeper collected the ball to ensure The Reds
headed back home empty handed.

Nottingham Forest are forced to wait
another week for a league win as
they suffered a 1-0 defeat away to
Sunderland.
Kiera Ramshaw’s 58th minute thundering strike
was the difference between the two sides as Forest
failed to score in a league match for the first time
since May 2019.
Andy Cook made one change to his side that drew
2-2 at home to Hull City the week before as Lucy
Johnson came in to replace Hayley James who
dropped to the substitute bench.
It was a bright start to the game for The Reds as
they took control of the ball and began pushing for
that early goal.
Johnson’s second minute cross was met by Rosie
Axten inside the area but her shot was well
blocked. Then Bex Rayner struck a hit towards goal
four minutes later but her effort flew wide of the
target.
Georgia Hewitt picked up the ball on the 16th
minute and attempted to carry it through the box
but she was dispossessed. Fortunately, the ball roll
back out to Axten but her first-time effort flew over
the goal.
The home side also had their chances in front
of goal inside the game’s opening 30 minutes
but Abbey Joice and Emily Scarr both saw their
chances end up the wrong side of the goalposts.
The best chance of the first-half fell to Sunderland
on the 40th minute as Aja Aguirre was called into
action to ensure her side were level heading into
the break. Maria Farrugia slipped a well-weighted
pass through to Ramshaw just inside the box
who took a touch before firing a shot on goal but
Aguirre pulled off a fantastic and crucial stop.
The hosts enjoyed the majority of chances in
the beginning of the second-half as they pushed
towards an opener and got their reward on the
58th minute. Joice played a short pass through to
the on-running Ramshaw inside the box who took
a touch before lifting a powerful shot over Aguirre
and into the far top corner.
Forest then sprang into action as they tried to claw
something back from the game but chances from
Rayner and Charlotte Steggles in quick succession
were strongly blocked and then cleared by the

The club was founded as West Bromwich
Albon Women’s FC in 1989 playing local
and recreational football. In 1995 they
joined the Midland Combination Women’s
Football League.
In the 2004–05 season they were incorporated in
the WBA Community Programme and committed
to developing youth players. They continued in this
way for four more seasons.
Over the next seasons they have stabilised
themselves in the Premier League Northern
Division and are looking to become one of the
strongest teams over the next few years.
In the 2015/16 season under the leadership of
manager Graham Abercrombie, the club achieved
a league and cup double winning both the FA
Women’s Premier League Northern Division and
the Birmingham Ladies County Cup. They narrowly
missed out on promotion to the FA Women’s Super
League Division 2, losing 4-2 in a playoff with
FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division
champions Brighton & Hove Albion WFC. They also
made it to the quarter finals of the FA Women’s
Cup, losing 2-0 to Super League side Manchester
City WFC.
For the 2016–17 season, the club reverted to
the West Bromwich Albion name where they
had another successful campaign winning the
Birmingham Ladies County Cup for a second year
running under new manager Craig Nicholls.
In the 2017-18 season, the club appointed Louis
Sowe as new manager, but despite reaching
the Birmingham Ladies County Cup Semi-Final,
they suffered relegation to the newly named FA
Women’s National League Midlands Division One.
