Budget time, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> livin' ain't easy;<br />
Costs are jumpin', <strong>and</strong> inflation is high.<br />
Oh, your church ain't rich,<br />
And <strong>the</strong>re's things that need tixin';<br />
And every committee wants a piece of <strong>the</strong> pie.<br />
One of <strong>the</strong>se mornings,<br />
We'll have more outgo than income,<br />
And we'll watch our bills,<br />
As <strong>the</strong>y climb to <strong>the</strong> sky;<br />
So keep that morning'<br />
Off our calendar this year,<br />
When canvassers call, <strong>and</strong> ask to stop by.<br />
Will your pledge renew-oooo-ooo?<br />
I'll contribute too-ooo-ooo.<br />
That means I offer to help<br />
The UU church in town<br />
If you refuse me I will be blue,<br />
And wearing quite a frown.<br />
So if when you hear<br />
My loose change jingling near,<br />
And I hear your "thank you" so loudly <strong>and</strong> clear,<br />
Then church will be our reason to cheer<br />
For we'll pay our bills <strong>for</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r year!<br />
