Dear Parents and carers,
31 December 2020
We hope that you all managed to enjoy the Christmas break with time as a family and time to relax. I
am sure you have all seen the latest announcement on the move to Tier 4 and guidance for schools. As
you will have seen, essentially very little has changed for primary education and we will be reopening
schools as originally planned. Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy will be opening to all
children on 4th January 2021 as planned, and you should ensure that your child/ children attend
school as usual. This is the case for most primary schools who are now in a Tier 4 area as designated
by the Government.
Please be assured that all schools have robust risk assessments in place and school leaders and school
staff will be working tirelessly to ensure that all guidance is followed. As always, our priority will be
the safety of the school community at all times.
As a reminder, if your child/children do present with symptoms, they should not attend school and
you should arrange for a test to take place to help keep your child, family, and the wider school
community as safe as possible.
We know you are all familiar with our school routine but as a reminder going into the new term,
please:
• Arrive at your allotted drop off and collection time, please make sure you are on time, please
do not arrive early.
• Ensure you socially distance at drop off and pick-up times, please do not gather around gates.
• Wear you mask at all times on the school site.
• Keep to the one-way system and designated times for drop off and collection to reduce the
numbers on site at any one time.
We do understand that entering the Tier 4 restrictions will be a cause of anxiety for some families, and
if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school. We are here to support you and help
in any way we can. You can find further information about Tier 4 by looking on the GOV.UK website
here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home.
Finally, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all children, staff and parents/ carers, for your support,
patience and dedication to put our children first. Through support for each other and following the
guidance, we will meet this challenge. With news of effective vaccines being rolled out, we can also
feel hopeful that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back into school.
Best wishes and stay safe
