Blue and White!
By Noah Niedert
Laura Eiklenborg is the DNH middle school cheer coach. She had
27 cheerleaders out for football cheer. She started coaching
cheerleading
because when she
first started there
were only 2
cheerleaders out,
and she wanted to
make them more
confident and she
hopes she did. She thinks cheerleaders make the
atmosphere at the games better and more fun. She says
her cheerleaders have worked very hard and thinks they
have improved a lot from the start of the season. To end
the season, they had an excellent performance at a home
football game and the pep assembly which featured dancing and stunting.
Fantastic Football
By Jacen Wenger
This year the football program had to deal
with Covid 19 restrictions, but the team pushed
through it to play the sport that they enjoy. Each
player worked extremely hard throughout the
season to be ready for the games ahead. Mr.
Pokorny is the head coach for the team and was
interviewed before the game in Denver he said, “I
would say that the season started out rough but
mid-season we started getting it together and I
think we will finish the season off strong. We
definitely have some growth but got better at some aspects of the game and have a long way to go
to reach our long-term goals. Both teams are summing up to my expectations and I expect that both
teams will win against Denver.” Both teams definitely finished the season off strong with the 7th
grade going 2/4 and the 8th grade is 5/1. Other people who
coached were Mr. Huck, Mr. Mapel, and Mr. Wright. Managers
on the team were William Huck, Alex Jones, and Jacen Wenger,
who also filmed the games for the team. Devlin Davis, the 7th
grade running back, broke his arm during the first game of the
year against Hudson. Thankfully he is recovered well. The
football team had a great year and hope to have an even better
one next year with the new coming 7th graders.
