TAMSYN MARCEAU - MAGEE

The day Twiggy was born it was a beautiful sunny day

in the little village of Saag. She came into our world with a

twinkle in her eye, a sparkle in her step and a spring

in her tail.

Twiggy was much much smaller than her brothers

and sisters which she loathed but they all loved her

despite her tiny nose and what she didn’t know was

that one day being so small would send her on

a ginormous adventure.

One fateful day Mama dog said it was time for all the

pups to venture off into the big wide world and she

returned to where she whence came. Before she left

Mamma dog told Twiggy to always be kind and to

be extra wary of the dog catcher as he particularly

liked to capture little pups.

Mamma dog hoped her children would all find

a forever family. If not a spot at the back of

a butchers or fishmongers would do for they

had the best scraps.

Twiggy got quite lucky because she met a boy

on his way home from school. They became

best friends and he vowed to look after her

and be her friend forever. His name was

Florin and he was the kindest boy Twiggy

would ever know.

Now Twiggy just loved sticks. Probably because she looked

like a stick and she felt like a stick and she even smelled

like a stick!

She loved to chase and fetch the stickiest sticks that

her best friend would find for her..

Every afternoon she waited for him at the church

made of wood and they would play & play & play

& play & play..........

After they played until they could play no more

Twiggy would flop down under the old oak tree

and Florin would tickle her tummy and stroke

her silky ears.

As well as sticks Florin would bring as many scraps

as he could so Twiggy’s tummy was never grumbly.

When it was time for him to go home for supper

she would smother his face with kisses then dig

her hole, curl up and go to sleep under the stars.

Florin worried about Twiggy getting splinters from all

those spikey sticks so he found Twiggy the Stickiest Stick

of all. He bought it at the pet shop with his pocket money

and it was extra safe for doggos.

“I will treasure it forever” she exclaimed “and it will always

remind me of you.”

What Twiggy didn’t realise is that Florin had found

an especially special stick which was made of rubber

so no nasty splinters and it really would last forever.

Twiggy was delighted with it and that night fell asleep

as happy as a doggo could be. He really was the kindest

friend a girl could ask for.

and Twiggys life changed forever!!!!!

Twiggy was thrown into prison.

Two long, grey, sad months went by.

There was no sunshine, no food

and no Florinto play with. Only dirt and

grime and rusty bars.

Twiggy had to share a cell with the biggest and snarliest

dogs in the whole of Romania. She was miserable.

However she had managed to grab her especially special

stick at the very last second before being captured and

thrown by the scruff of her neck into the back of the dog

catchers van. Every day she guarded it with her life.

TWIGGY!!!

Florin was devastated, he searched and searched for

Twiggy but she was nowhere to be found. He hated that

wretched dog catcher.

With his smile upside down he went home but promised

Twiggy he would never stop looking for her.

Florin’s family just didn’t know what to do for the best.

They told him they would find another pup. But another

pup wouldn’t ever be as lovely as Twiggy.

On the other side of Europe Lady Tracie of Guildford

dedicated her whole life to the plight of unfortunate dogs.

She travelled the world saving as many pups as she

could.

When she spotted Twiggy all alone in a cell with dogs

three times her size she declared:

“What on Earth is that Pup doing in there - get her

out at once before she is eaten alive.”

The truth was Twiggy was a little older than she looked.

She could handle those big old dogs and actually felt

a bit sorry for them, they deserved a comfy bed and

a tickled tum too.

But she grabbed her stick and ran to Lady Tracie

in a lickety split. As she passed the dog catcher she

gave him a sly smile but there was nothing he could do

Lady Tracie had saved her tail!!

.

Twiggy was bathed and brushed and prodded

and poked and put on a bus with a lot of pesky

pups, they nipped her feet, pulled her ears and

even tried to steal her stick.

After what seemed to be an age they arrived

at Lady Tracie’s beautiful farm. Twiggy

was mesmerised.

There was food, a warm bed and most of all

an abundance of love and kindness. She felt

warm and fuzzy inside and knew her happy

was coming back but still longed for her best

friend. All she had to remind her of him was

her beloved stick.

Over in London Dolly Marceau was hoping to find a lovely

lurcher to live with her. She had spotted Twiggy and just

knew she was the one.

Lady Tracie drove Twiggy to her new home and Dolly

loved her instantly. Twiggy was very apprehensive

and didn’t really understand what the heck was

going on.

For a start she was worried about how she was going

to know if this new person wanted kisses. She did

not understand a word Dolly said. It was all

so confusing and she was so worried.

Twiggy just clung to her precious stick.

Arlo the dalmatian had lived with Dolly Marceau

for 7 years. He was not happy about another dog

in the house.

“I’m not sure I like her. She’s small and she smells funny.

Plus she won’t share her stick!”

Dolly found a new toy in the toy box and you will

never guess….

That big silly dalmatian could not stop himself!! They

played & played & played & played & played!!!

Twiggy was funny and clever. She could even open

the door which meant they could go outside whenever

they wanted.

They chased & chewed & bounced & ran & rolled until

Dolly shouted them in for Supper…Which they Shared!

Twiggy was still a little confused but she was definitely

feeling even more happy.

“You see Arlo,” said Dolly “we have to be kind to new

friends no matter where they are from or what they

smell like. The world is full of amazing, funny, kind,

friendly & clever characters all with their own story to tell.”

As luck would have it Dolly had a friend from

Romania. Kristoph came for tea the very next day.

Twiggy went to sleep in her warm cosy bed that night

in the hallway of Dolly and Arlo’s house next to her new

spotty friend. She was the happiest of happies but she

still didn’t know when she could give her kisses.....

“Sarutari Twiggy” said Kristoph!

Twiggy jumped up as quick as a flash and smothered him

in kisses.

“Ah so that is how we get her to give us kisses!!!!!!”

exclaimed Dolly.

Twiggy’s Happy was complete!!! She had found

the kindest family.

She kept Florin locked in heart and hoped

that maybe, just maybe they would one day

meet again……………
