Down the rabbit hole<br />

Alice is at home with her family on a summer’s day. There is a garden<br />

party with many unusual guests.<br />

Alice falls asleep <strong>in</strong> the sunsh<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

The White Rabbit runs by. Alice is surprised to see him pull a watch<br />

out of his coat pocket and he looks worried. She follows him down a<br />

rabbit hole and she falls a long way down.<br />

The hall of doors<br />

Alice f<strong>in</strong>ds herself <strong>in</strong> a hallway with lots of locked doors.<br />

She can see a garden through the keyhole of one t<strong>in</strong>y door but she is<br />

too big to fit through.<br />

She eats a cake that is labelled ‘eat me’ and dr<strong>in</strong>ks from a bottle that<br />

is labelled ‘dr<strong>in</strong>k me’. She grows smaller, and then bigger, but she is<br />

still not the right size to get through the door.<br />

Alice starts to cry. Her tears become a huge pool and she dives <strong>in</strong>to it.<br />

The caucus race<br />

When Alice swims <strong>in</strong> the enormous pool of her own tears, the water<br />

<strong>in</strong> the pool makes Alice shr<strong>in</strong>k aga<strong>in</strong>.<br />

In the pool she meets a lot of strange animals swimm<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

They all get out, and to help everyone dry off, Alice organises them all<br />

<strong>in</strong> a race.<br />

The White Rabbit appears and Alice follows him.<br />

The Duchess and the Baby<br />

Alice must deliver an <strong>in</strong>vitation to a Duchess for a croquet party<br />

hosted by the Queen of Hearts.<br />

She f<strong>in</strong>ds her look<strong>in</strong>g after her baby <strong>in</strong> her kitchen while her Cook<br />

makes sausages.<br />

The Duchess and the Cook fight. A mysterious, smil<strong>in</strong>g Cheshire Cat<br />

arrives. Alice takes the baby, concerned for its safety, but hands it<br />

back when she realises it has turned <strong>in</strong>to a pig.<br />

Next, Alice meets the White Rabbit and the Knave of Hearts, who has<br />

been accused of steal<strong>in</strong>g the Queen’s jam tarts!<br />

The Rabbit warns Alice that if she goes to the Queen’s croquet party,<br />

the Queen will cut off her head.<br />

Some strange characters<br />

Alice is lost and asks the Cheshire Cat for directions, but he confuses<br />

her even more.<br />

She arrives at a tea party where she meets the Mad Hatter, the March<br />

Hare and the sleepy Dormouse. The table is set for tea and they all<br />

keep swapp<strong>in</strong>g places.<br />

Alice leaves the tea party and meets a Caterpillar, who gives her a<br />

piece of mushroom to eat that will help her change her size.<br />

The croquet match<br />

Back <strong>in</strong> the corridor of doors where she first arrived, Alice eats the<br />

mushroom. At last she can fit through the door <strong>in</strong>to the secret<br />

garden.<br />

The Knave arrives, chased by the Queen of Hearts and her guards.<br />

He escapes, with the White Rabbit and Alice dash<strong>in</strong>g after him.<br />

Alice meets some gardeners pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g the Queen’s white roses<br />

red. When the Queen sees the gardeners, she orders that their heads<br />

be chopped off. But Alice and the White Rabbit distract the<br />

executioner and the gardeners escape.<br />

The croquet game uses flam<strong>in</strong>gos as mallets and hedgehogs as<br />

balls. When the Duchess accuses the Queen of cheat<strong>in</strong>g, the Queen<br />

orders her execution.<br />

While the K<strong>in</strong>g calms the Queen down, Alice smuggles the Duchess<br />

away. The Knave is discovered and arrested. Alice follows everyone to<br />

the castle for the trial.<br />

The trial<br />

The Knave is accused of steal<strong>in</strong>g a plate of jam tarts, which is<br />

displayed as evidence.<br />

The witnesses are called and they all accuse the Knave: the Mad<br />

Hatter, the Caterpillar, the March Hare, the Dormouse, the Duchess<br />

and the Cook.<br />

The Knave is given a chance to defend himself and Alice tries to help.<br />

However, the Queen is furious and the whole court chases Alice and<br />

the Knave.<br />

While try<strong>in</strong>g to escape, Alice knocks over one of the witnesses. One<br />

after another, they all topple over and the entire court collapses:<br />

they’re only play<strong>in</strong>g cards, after all.<br />

In the middle of the chaos, Alice wakes up to f<strong>in</strong>d herself back at the<br />

family garden party. Was it all a dream?<br />
