The John Fisher SchoolThe John Fisher School is a successful Catholiccomprehensive school which has been servingthe local community since 1929. The school has along history of academic success, cultural andsporting excellence in the spirit of St. John Fisher,which continues today. Our aim is that everystudent will progress to a high performinguniversity or career of choice.The school is a community of learning andworship, with love and support central to all ouractivities and experiences. We believe as wellthat all aspects of the life of the School should belived in a spirit of justice and charity and thatChristian selflessness should be part of all ourdealings with one another. Our desire is thatstudents leave us as mature, independent learnerswho are ready to take responsibility for theirown progress beyond school and are able tomake valuable contributions to the widercommunity for years to come.In 2020, 28% of the school's GCSE grades were a9-7/A*-A grade. 95% of students secured a Level4 or above in Maths and 92% of students gainedat least a Level 4 in English Language or EnglishLiterature. At A Level, 43% of grades were A*-Aand 62% were A*-B.The Sixth Form received an ‘outstanding’ ALP’sjudgement. In our previous Ofsted inspectionboth ‘Behaviour & Safety’ and our Sixth Formwere judged ‘outstanding’.Founded in 1929 with 20 students, there arecurrently 1127 students on roll, 229 of whom arein the Sixth Form. In recent years the School hasgrown and has a strong cultural provision inmusic, art and literature.Working in partnership with parents/carers andGovernors, our highly skilled and caring staff isdedicated to ensuring each student achieves hisfull potential regardless of ability or aptitudethrough excellent and varied learningexperiences.“The John Fisher School is a close knit community, like afamily.
