The original location recently closedabout the time a new location, Burgers BluesBarbeque, opened in Brandon.“I’m from Madison, but we played footballagainst Brandon, and I’ve always had a lot offriends in Brandon,” Steven says. “Brandonhas always struck me as a family-oriented,wholesome town, and it’s a great place to puta restaurant.” The Brandon location will alsofeature a patio area.The restaurant’s menu is extensive,centered on fresh hand-formed burgers. “Weuse all fresh ingredients, nothing is frozen,” saysSteven. “We get fresh meat in three times aweek. We also use our own special seasoning,and we know how to cook it to get the mostflavor.” Customers can build their own burgeror choose from one of the many specialty burgerson the menu. There are also daily lunch blueplate specials. “If someone doesn’t want a burger,there’s plenty more to choose from on the menu,”says Steven. “From chicken tenders to salads,we have a wide variety of menu items tochoose from.”Something new at Burgers and Blues willbe breakfast, served six days a week startingFebruary 1. All the basic breakfast items willbe served, as well as a hash brown/grits bowl,fried egg and brisket waffle, chicken andwaffle and French toast. “Of course, we’llserve great coffee and juices as well,”Steven says.In addition to the restaurant, Burgersand Blues has two food trucks and they do alot of catering. “We take the food trucks out toevents. We can handle really big crowds, andwe do a good job of it.”Steven and his wife, Abby, live in Madison,along with their four children, Landon (19),Lane (13), Presleigh (12) and MaryCline (8).Landon helps his dad out at the restaurant,and Abby is also very involved with therestaurant as well. The Sahler family isfit and healthy. “We are a CrossFit family,”Steven says. “We all participate to stayhealthy and for the love of it. Everyoneenjoys it.” The children are also involvedin various sports. The family attends theVertical Church in Gluckstadt where theyare all very involved. “I’m also involvedwith a men’s movement called The Hangar,”says Steven.Steven says his priorities are faith first,then family, then his business. “I am richlyblessed and looking forward to great thingsin our new location in Brandon.” lHometown RANKIN • 57
